I have worked for years with the staff from PADV. They set the standard for all domestic violence agencies in Georgia. Their work is professional to the highest standard and their care and support for survivors is beyond compare. The staff work very hard in very difficult jobs. They are constantly striving to find innovative and compassionate ways to support those affected by intimate partner violence. I cannot say enough about this organization or the people who make it run. They set the standard within the state for serving survivors.

I have worked with staff from PADV for more than five years now. They are tireless advocates for survivors. PADV works relentlessly to ensure that domestic violence survivors and their friends and family have the support they need to heal. I want to personally thank everyone I know at PADV for the difficult jobs they do every day. They make my community a better place.

Do you know what it feels like to have the man you love nearly choke you to death while your children watch? I do. During our four years together, I experienced all kinds of abuse at the hands of my husband, the kind of abuse that doesn't just break your bones: It breaks your spirit. Beaten and broken - and literally broke (I had $87 to my name) - I ended up in a PADV shelter with my two small children and one suitcase. It changed my life. For the first time in four years, when I went to sleep at night I felt safe because I knew no one was going to pull me out of bed at 2 a.m. and beat me senseless because I had not finished the laundry or the bathroom wasn't cleaned. For the first time in years, I felt like someone cared about me. I felt like I mattered. I lived with my children in the PADV shelter for seven weeks. From the support groups to the legal aid to the friendships I built while there, PADV helped me put the pieces of my life back together again. It wasn't just that they gave us sheets and towels and food - they gave women like me a chance to find ourselves again, to find our strength. Today, I co-own a successful business and am raising two "tween-agers" who are happy, healthy straight A students. I would not be where I am now withouth the support I received from PADV.

By providing me with shelter and food, support group sessions and legal resources, PADV gave me the foundation I needed to get back on my feet again.

Like every nonprofit, PADV always needs additional resources so that this organization can continue to make a difference in the lives of women and children.

As a past volunteer and employee of PADV, giving of my time and energy to an organization dedicated to providing a way out of abuse for women and their families, was enjoyable! Enjoyable because a platform existed where I could serve the interest of women who needed that extra support through various resources and programs such as FACE TO FACE and TRANSITONAL HOUSING. When I came on as an employee, I would literally forget I had a payday!

I have since returned to PADV as co-facilitator of their support group and am happy to see and be part of an organization that continues to champion support to women and their families through greater awareness with WHEN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GOES TO WORK, TEEN DATING VIOLENCE, and other programs. And, it' so nice to see more male volunteers supporting PADV's mission!

Volunteering at PADV has been a wonderful experience over the past couple of months. I have enjoyed assisting in child care and providing administrative services for this organization. Even if it was something as small as preparing volunteer packets for an orientation, I have had the pleasure of assisting in any way possible. PADV is a wonderful agency that provides a wide range of opportunities to assist women and children who are affected by domestic violence. I especially enjoyed volunteering at Hearts with Hope in the silent auction. I truly believe that PADV will continue to prosper in all of its efforts to support a good cause and I will continue to volunteer my time.

PADV is an organization that truly operates to help! When I arrived to Georgia in 2006 I contacted the organization ahead of time to let them know that I would need assistance in getting on my feet. They responded immediately to my needs. Once I obtained a living quarters they assisted with helping me get furniture for my child and I. Food, cookware, clothing, and toys because this was near Christmas.

To me the most effective thing this organzation did for me was the offer the weekly DV Support groups. There was never anything I needed in a timely manner that PADV did not give me. Even if it meant helping pay rent for me for a month or two because I was behind on bills.

Because of the support from this organization I am now in balanced more than ever before. I have learned potential signs of a violent partner through the groups. I have learned that I can make it and that help is out there when needed. Lastly, I have learned that now I can give back. With the support of PADV I was able to get back in school and obtain my biggest goal in Georgia which was my B.A. Degree within four years. They helped my transition be as smooth as possible and now I attribute my success to their labor.

Thank you PADV!

I have been volunteering with PADV for over a year and I have seen how the organization changes the lives of domestic violence survivors. I tell people all the time what a life-saving organization it is and what resources are available. I believe that giving someone the opportunity to feel safe and start a new life that is violence-free is such an important mission.

There is always a need for more funding in any non-profit and I wish they would be able to offer more individual counseling for the residents/clients.

I've had the privilege of volunteering with the organization, attending trainings held by its passionate staff, and collaborating professionally with the team at PADV. Every staff person's passion and dedication is evident in everything they do, and the women of Atlanta would be worse off if not for PADV.

PADV has generously helped other organizations in finding creative ways to serve clients who don't have established resources. Survivors in the LGBTQQI population are much better served because of PADV's collaborative efforts.

I have had the opportunity to partner with many staff members from PADV to help support victims of IPV and consider each of them to be compassionate and dedicated advocates. I appreciate the dedication that PADV has shown toward supporting the efforts to address IPV within the LBGTQQI community. They have been a great leader in this area for the entire state.
