Mission: Partners in Torah’s signature phone-study program offers Jewish adults of all backgrounds across North America a cost-free learning opportunity to discover Judaism—its culture, history, and traditions—at their pace and their schedule. Jewish men and women with an interest in acquiring specific skills (ex: Hebrew reading or Talmud) or in building their Jewish knowledge, are matched, one-to-one, with a carefully selected personal Torah trainer or “mentor,” for up to an hour-per-week of over-the-phone study and discussion. Participants can choose any topic, including Hebrew, Jewish philosophy, history—or a subject of their choosing.  Several different programs include www.PartnersInTorah.org | www.KoheletFellowships.com | www.MyKaddish.com | www.Jewpiter.com

Partners in Torah is a fantastic organization. Whether you want to learn or teach, its a great way to make a connection with another Jew that can last you a lifetime.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching people grow in their relationship with G-d from the experience.

Every week Partners in Torah provides a much needed lifeline to me for growth. I live in a place with little access to the level of learning extended to me through Partners in Torah and the weekly Parsha Partners. Every week the ideas brought to me over the phone and by email I use to engage my family and community in "applied" torah practice. The gift of Torah light is wonderful and has touched many in our community in direct and indirect ways. Thank you Partners in Torah. I am exactly the type of person you wanted to help and the help has been a blessing to so many.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my weekly parsha discussions with my family and community. I have also been able to refresh/review/learn navi to better support my children's Jewish education.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get them 10 million bucks.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The partners I have been paired with have been good matches. We learn from each other. The Parsha Partners covers many things I know, but ALWAYS has a new fact and a good idea for me to use for discussion.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

High quality, good neshamas, and professional.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Set up a kollel in my town. Or start a quality Day Schol. Establish an orthodox neighborhood.

Ways to make it better...

my schedules could match better. My torah partners have been in different time zones and teach in day schools and I work and commute, so finding an ideal time isn't always easy.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not known to me. I am not familiar with the inner workings of the service. It has never failed me.

One thing I'd also say is that...

They have done a terrific job in follow up. I receive a phone call every couple of months to make sure things are going well with my torah partner. This person has been very pleasant and effective.

I'm very grateful for your organization. The first contact I ha was when we requested my sons first tefillin prior to his Bar Mitzvah. He became very motivated to learn as much as he could and began Yeshiva in the 9th grade. He now is in the 11th grade and is extremely happy to have this opportunity to be a Yeshiva student. Coming from the secular world our family had a limited education about our heritage. I also benefited by having a Partner in Torah who was there to help me on my wonderful journey into learning more about our heritage. I look forward to speaking and learning with my partner. My partner's enthusiasm and warm nature make it a pleasure to learn. Thank you, Linda

Partners in Torah (PIT) set me up about 8 years ago with a volunteer as study partner. They follow up with me every few months to make sure everything is going well. The organization is an essential part of my life as I not just study with my partner over the phone the text, but I seek guidance from him often. Thanks to PIT, I can read and understand Hebrew text of Mishna. Thank you PIT.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

studing Hebrew.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the fact that it does not confined to studding but extend to life experiences also.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Selfless and professional

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help more people in their quest of spirituality.

This is a great organization. I've been learning with my partner for about 5 years now. I think the key to its success is that the learning relationship between you and your partner is more of a friend than a teacher. This leads to discussions about everything in life. This organization does not only allow you to gain a knowledge of Torah but also lets you gain a friend.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

After finishing hebrew school and going to a public high school and then to college , this organization allowed me to preserve and enrich my jewish identity.

Staff and volunteers a great people who become your friends.

Ways to make it better...

Nothing much that could have been added.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

This organization deserves our financial support. Everybody envolved are fully dedicating themselves to us.

My husband has his partner and I have my partner which is great that we all care about our partners what has happened over the last week. Of course, we study! The best turns out my husband shares with me what he learns before his study session and then what he learns after his session, Then I share the information with my partner. I even put some comments about what my husband and his partner share. My husband now appreciates the jewish texts I have bought that help him prepare for his Partner in Torah study session! We are married 33 years and now we have more to share about! My partner and I are very close and can make each other feel better when there have been some hard times in our separate lives. Or just help when my partner went on vacation to my home state, I could share places to go, traffic concerns and just personal information. Now my partner wants to go back and spend more time in my home state! She cares about me too. I had heart surgery, she said prayers for me and knew me well enough that my intellect shouldn't be neglected during my healing time. She made sure to call and share her knowledge with me! If PIT didn't put us together we wouldn't have had these experiences and more. Thanks PIT.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

learning more and making a new friend, who I hope to visit some day.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have a new friend of my own faith.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Genuine and real and caring everything was going well.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spend money to get Partners together in person. Maybe spend a shabbos together.

PIT is the essence of a "great non-profit." Their model has maximum impact through a one-on-one learning model. And since volunteers are performing the core services, they achieve it with maximum efficiency. Every non-profit could learn from Partern's in Torah!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

having someone to learn Torah with me one-on-one on the phone

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get them more money so they can expand -- the need is enormous.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

its grassroots nature and the ability to meet my specific needs precisely

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

as warm kind and dedicated as they come

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

literally, without any exaggeration, change the world

Ways to make it better...

I had found PIT sooner.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

fundraising

One thing I'd also say is that...

I joined Partners in Torah and had a number very cool and interesting phone learning sessions. as good as the learning however has been the bond that I developed with my partner in so short a time. even when the learning phases in and out (to be honest), we continue schmooze over email, he keeps me connected to Torah, newsletters etc. without fail every week I get an email with a wish of good Shabbos, passing on some Torah thoughts, just checking in....this is what life is all about! great organization, the weekly Parshah letters are fantastic and I wish you the best of luck.

Partners in Torah has been a tremendous benefit to my learning. Having grown up with little Judaic background in a very small community, Partners in Torah put me with a telephone partner for study at my level. And then again, as I became more advanced with a local partner in Houston as an ongoing learning program.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Everyone I have spoken with have been enthusiastic, helpful, and showed concern to make sure that I was being helped.
