Results: PanZOu has changed the lives of hundreds of young people and their families since 2004. Most of our clients are multiple offenders who began their criminal activies while still a juvenile. As validation of our success, PanZOu received a 2005 Coordination Award from the National Weed and Seed Strategy, 2007 Angels Among Us Award from Department of Children & Families, 2009 Gang Violence Prevention Award from the US Attorney’s Office Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative and has been highlighted by the Attorney General as a model program for his Gang Reduction Strategy 2009-2012. As well, OJJDP recognized the PanZOu Project in its Best Practices to Address Community Gang Problems: OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model (2008). The Urban Institute’s recent interim evaluation report on our program described our experience and capability implementing and managing such an effort as: “One of the strengths of the North Miami Beach GRP has been its organizational capacity and leadership… to bring together a diverse yet collaborative and cooperative group of partners who worked to ensure full implementation of the GRP model. The collaborative functioning within the committee has continued and expanded over time, and the building of such a collaborative partnership has been one of the site’s most important accomplishments” Community Collaborative Addressing Youth Gangs: Interim Findings from the Gang Reduction Program (May 2008).

The Panzou Project is a great asset to the crime fighting abilities of the North Miami Beach Police Department and is an integral part of of local gang prevention and intervention efforts. We have partnered with Panzou for many years and support it wholeheartedly!

This organization has the capacity to provide quality services to young people - offering them a way to out of violence. The amazing thing is, it does it with heart and soul and on a shoe-string budget.

I also work in the field of prevention/intervention programs and cannot overstate the importance of this program to our inner-city youth. So many people give up on these youth without ever trying to understand why they become who they become or how we can help to rectify our community short-comings in not being there for these kids. These youth grow up in circumstances that no child should have to know or experience and yet they are survivors and somehow manage to survive poverty; fatherless homes; dysfunctional homes; violent schools and neighborhoods, fierce peer pressure; no support and no resources. PanZou Project is there to help them when no one else is. Bravo PanZou and brava Laura Kallus!

As the IT Regional Director for the Department of Juvenile Justice I have followed the progress of the PANZOU project through out the years. They have without a doubt a professional staff that has a true passion for helping Floridas youth. But no organization can have the success as well as the impact that the PANZOU project has had without a great leader. Mr. Kallus has been instrumental in their success and along with her constant motivation to help our kids mixed in with a passionate staff and a well design program this is the perfect recipe for success. I expect nothing but the best from them know and in the future.

I have been apart of the PanZOu family since 2004. What attracted me to this wonderful program was its desire to provide direct services to Haitian youth in our community at-risk gang and youth violence. As a Haitian-American professional, I knew that this population needed these direct services and wanted to be apart of the movement. I have seen firsthand the love and support PanZOu staff give to its clients. Whether it is being in the delivery room when a client is alone giving birth to their first child or digging deep into our wallets to provide our clients with a safe spring break that includes camping in the wood to tours of local universities to see what they have to offer. PanZOu works everyday to continue encouraging our youth to starve for the best in life and most importantly to dream of a future. PanZOu is a place where all we provide is free of charge and I hope that we can continue to provide our services for years to come!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue to provide mentors to local youths who encourage them to stay out of trouble. with that kind of money, PanZOu would work to build a state of the art Drop-in center that provides free commputers labs, tutoring and a game room!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
