PANDAS INTERNATIONAL

My daughter (18 yrs) and I were travelling in China for a month and volunteered at Bifengxia Panda Center for a day. It took us 2 hours by private car to get there from Chengdu and we spent the most wonderful day at the Centre. We looked after a Panda breeding enclosure with Ebu and Chengdu our pandas.
We mucked out the outdoor area as well as their indoor sleeping and eating area. Break up the bamboo and replace it in the outdoor area. We got to cut up apples, carrots and 'Panda cake' for their morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and hand fed them with the trainer close by. What an amazing experience. Lots of photo opportunities.
We ate lunch with all the Chinese employees and spent about an hour when the park was closed over lunch watching the baby pandas play in the Kindergarten enclosure!
We would definitely go back for longer than a day next time!

A great little non-profit that understands the needs of the endangered panda. They focus on the tactical requirements, and have made a significant contribution to saving this species. Their goal of replanting bamboo is the type of focused activity that will have a huge impact in the effort to save the wild giant panda.

Pandas International is an awesome organization! How many people in this world think that pandas are precious but don't realize how rare they have become or how hard a fight is required just to save their kind?! "Not many" is my belief. People smile, laugh, and enjoy them but they don't realize that they must do something to help this species to survive! Pandas International helps people to understand just what these wonderful animals are up against and all the needs they have in order to continue to survive in the wild. What's more, the organization helps people to actually feel that they are "hands on" in helping the pandas to survive by donating to specific funds for milk, bamboo, etc. I personally love knowing that when I send money it is going specifically where I want it to go. Most organizations don't offer the opportunity to specify exactly what you want your donation used for. It helps me to feel more involved and more valuable as a donor - more a part of truly helping these animals rather than having my donation go to pay "administrative expenses" and so on. And finally, I love the fact that Pandas International invites people to go on yearly tours of China & (most of all) our beloved panda reserves every year - it is comforting to know that you have the opportunity to enjoy such an experience with people who have done it before and know what to expect from all aspects of the tour. To me, pandas show a whimsical side of God that I truly adore -they are so unbelieveably interesting and lovable. THANK YOU PANDAS INTERNATIONAL FOR ALL THAT YOU DO TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THESE WONDERFUL AND UNIQUE ANIMALS that are irreplaceable. I am very pleased to be able to have my say on this organization. Thank You, Sincerely, Michele Stevens

I have supported PI from it's inception volunteering for events... PI helps with donations of milk for panda babies and bamboo for all pandas! without PI's support and dedication we wouldn't be able to love all of these wonderful bears!

I first heard of Pandas International a number of years ago. I started donating monthly about 5 years ago to the milk fund and later to the bamboo fund. In 2009 adopted Hao Hao, Hua Mei's daughter. I continue and will continue that adoption now and in the future. The quarterly updates that PI sends are illuminating as to her growth and antics. (She is a definite character.) I have also purchased gear from PI and felt that it was a good value in support of a good cause. I heartily endore Pi as a Green 2012 organization.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Meeting my adopted, very healthy and somewhat rambunctious panda.

What would you tell others about this organization?
It's a great organization devoted to a great cause that will have impact not only on panda conservation, but conservation in China as well.
During its eleven year history, PI has become a global leader in the fight to save the endangered giant Panda. With a small staff of three part time employees and an unpaid director, PI has been able to supply panda centers with formual for cubs, critical medical equipment and supllies for the veterinarians, educational materials through its website, www.pandasinternational.org, and is currently engaged in a bamboo replanting campaign to help counter the loss of native bamboo due to the horrific earthquake of 2008, torrential spring rains of 2009-2010, and unusually heavy snows and disasterous floods in 2011. Theyt have quickly become a recognized and respected player in wildlife conservation and sustainable habitat protection.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the fact that their constant and passionate battle to save the giant panda has been recognized by major print and electronic media , and that contributions have seen a steady rise.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find a way to raise substantial sums of money to add staff and provide even more necessary supplies to the panda centers.
