Our Military Kids - what a wonderful organization!! My child was approved a grant to attend a wonderful camp in SC. An awesome opportuniy that would not have taken place if it wasn't for OMK Inc. We were beyond grateful to have received it, while while my husband was deployed. Our Military Kids Inc. understands our struggles and their continuous support went above and beyond our expectations. We, as a family continue to support it, since we know it's important to have these organizations support our children. With great respect the Garcia Family

Our Military Kids was fantastic! They provided a month of tuition for Ballet and Soccer for my daughters while my husband was deployed. The process was quick and easy and provided a little financial boost at just the right time. Probably most important was the fact that people recognize the toll a deployment can have on the family and provide help in a tangible way.

Thank you for your kindness.

My unit served as the pilot program for Our Military Kids, INC. while we were deployed to Afghanistan. My Daughters were able to attend art school while I was gone. These grants gave my wife and I ease of mind during a sressful period knowing our children's minds were not alwas focused on Daddy not being home. It broarden my children's minds and influenced thier creative skills. I've watched this program grow not only ni Virginia but across the Army Guard and I tell my soldiers about it every chance I get. I've had Soldiers chlidren attend speacial needs, horseback riding, karate and several other sports and tutoring programs. This is an OUTSTANDING program!!!

My children received grants for math tutoring (a subject my husband usually helps the kids with, and that confused me) while my husband was deployed. When my husband got home, there were a number of opportunities to attend family friendly bonding events (circus, baseball, theater..).

Our Military Kids Inc. is an organization that supports children of deployed military personnel. They are a refreshing group as they offer the children opportunities to participate in unique programs or their own chosen activities. They not only offer, they cover the bill!! Three of my four children were able to benefit from the organization. (The 4th was only a toddler at the time.)
Our Military Kids is a great organization because they are leaders in providing fun "distractions" while their beloved parent or parents serve in the US Military.

My children were able to participate in gymnastics and track and field because of Our Military Kids, Inc. We also received invitations to attend other fun events such as professional football and basketball games, dinner and a concert, and so much more that I can't recall right now!

Our Military Kids is a wonderful non-profit, almost six years ago my father was deployed to Afghanistan and they awarded me a grant for art school. This program helped me and my other siblings cope with the stress of our father being in a combat zone, the ability to participate in an extra-cirricular activity made a large difference in my life. The people of Our Military Kids are always caring and eager to help others making them a strong and dedicated non-profit. They are always willing to listen and will guide you step by step through the process of applying for and receiving grants. Thank you Our Military Kids, and keep up the great work!

My husband deployed September of 2010. It was a rough time for all of us. My oldest daughter was starting Kindergarten, but since she didn't go full time, we had a lot of time on our hands. I was directed to Our Military Kids, by my FRG leader. Once I filled out the form, Kailey was approved almost instantly. We were able to get her into a Swim and Gymanstics school. She was able to have some fun, and it made the time go by a little quicker for us. When the six months were up, we tried again and got approved a second time for a Rock Climbing Camp. My daughter is so shy, but she blossomed and found a passion in rock climbing. Now, it's something that her and her Daddy can share now that he is home. We both are so proud of her, but I think Daddy is in awe that his 6 year old has become quite the climber.

While I was deployed to Iraq with the US Army in 2009-2010, Our Military Kids awarded grants my three oldest children. My oldest daughter was able to participate in a developmental swim program, my son was able to attend Boy Scout Camp and my middle daughter was able to have a tutor for math and reading assistance.
When a Soldier deploys, the spouse who is left behind to care for the kids often times has to hire out the tasks that the Soldier would normally do. Things such as mowing the grass, cleaning out the gutters, raking leaves and others are all tasks that I did when I was home. During my deployment, my wife had to hire people to do many of those tasks.
To cover these expenses, many military familes must cut back financially in other areas. Most of the time, the first cuts are to kid's activities. This is the easiest place to cut expenses, but in emotional terms, it is the most costly. The kids of deployed military members need continuity. They need to maintain their activities as an outlet and a place to connect with friends.
As a result of the Our Military Kids grants, my oldest daughter and my son were able to stay engaged in activities where their friends were participating. My middle daughter was able to get help with school work that I normally gave and which my wife did not have the time to give. My wife was able to have some relief and care for the baby.
When a military member is deployed, the emotional stress on a military family is significant from just worrying about their safety. Adding financial worry and disrupting the kid's routines makes it even more difficult. Thanks to the wonderful service that Our Military Kids provides, a service that I am not aware of being provided by any other organization or the military, they are making the long periods apart and the stress a lot more manageable for military families.

Me and my sisters got a grant for art when my daddy was deployed in Afghanistan. We got to go to art lessons while he was far away. I got a really nice pin, bracelet, dogtags, and lots of fun stuff telling me that I helped my daddy by serving too. Thank you Our Military Kids! I love my art lesson.

While I was deployed, this program provided two grants which afforded my daughter the opportunity to go with her school's chorus and band class to Orlando, FL and to New York City. She gained valuable experiences as a result of these field trips. I recommend to anyone I know who is about to be deployed to look into this program. Our Military Kids is very efficient and professional when trying to help. Additionally, once I returned from the deployment my familiy was given the opportunity to attend a Baltimore Orioles game and watch the game from the club level. We would have never experienced that if it were not for the Our military kids. Please endorse Our Military Kids so that they may continue to help others.
