What I have heard from the men at Earl's Place is that they are very glad to be there. Most of them go to school, get diplomas or degrees, get a job and their own apartment. Many have come to my church and tell about their happy experience at Earl's Place. They have much- praise for the officers who run the place.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... Men have come to my church to tell their story how they were on drugs and Earl's Place help them get their life straightened out
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Build other facilities so more men could have a better life.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Lack of money.

In my considred expeience, I found Earl's Place and Ms. Shelia to be of ENORMOUS help tp me and others that I personally witnessed. Sheila always takes the time to be helpful on an individual basis to all with whatever special needs they require. I have never been in a better place where staff cares so genously and sincerely as Earl's Place

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... Their helping me to get my birth-certificate from Washington, D.C., and my Social Security card as well as State I.D.
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... Ms. Seila will go out on the limb got you to help in any way possible
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... friendly, knowegable and helpful
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Expand to the very BEST source of help in Baltimore City
Ways to make it better!
  • My experience would have been better if... Ms. Sheila ha more qualied help
  • If I ran this organization, I would... see above
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... finding the typ of staff that matches the dedication that Ms. Seila shows on a daily basis.
  • One thing I'd also say is that... I wish I was capable of helping on a more peopsonal level.

Earl's Place is one of my favorie local charities.I have met several of the clients in recent years and they all have a very inspiring story to tell. They speak of the how United Ministries has gotten them back on their feet after an extremely hopeless outlook.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The inspiring success stores told by clients upon completion of their stay at Earl's Place
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... expand and serve more homeless clients
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Funding

Earl's Place is a favorite of our family's because of the wonderful way that it is organized and run, because of its obvious successes, and because it was very close to my mother's heart. She believed that many of the men there face challenges similar to those that faced my uncle, her little brother. It is so good to know that our contributions are helping someone to find their way in the world again.

The Great!
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... caring, smart and intent on helping the clients become healthy, happy and independent.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... serve hundreds or thousands of clients.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... needing more money and more space!

As a volunteer and donor and professional with experience in this area, I thought this was superbly done. The residents seem happy and on their way to a full recovery. I thought that the Executive Director, Sheila Helgerson, was responsible for how well Earl's Place was doing as a result of her personality and people skills.

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... seeing the residents all healing and doing well. Earl's Place is a very positive experience.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... certainly expand, and provide not only transient housing, but permanent housing as residents graduate.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... On the positive side, Earl's Place could expand from 17 to 34 residents, and provide permanent housing on graduation. A concern would be whether expansion would affect the intimate and close personal experience that exists.
