I was a Volunteer & I was an MSW interning at Nextdoor. I worked as a crisis intervention advocate helping victims receive the services they need.

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence is an impressive organization. They are changing the way the general population views Domestic Violence. Not only are they helping victims in the moment, but they are making great strides in educating the public about D.V., which will go a long way towards ending the cycle for all time.
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... nearly every woman served.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... building strength in the individuals I worked with and having a chance to really make a difference in someone's life.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... incredibly knowledgeable and wonderful to work with.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... change the lives of millions of victims of D.V. for the better.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... there were more homeless shelters specifically for victims of D.V.
- If I ran this organization, I would... work on decreasing employee burnout, as it is a very stressful job.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... how to decrease employee turn over, and perhaps how to pay employees better so that they are able to stay longer.
- One thing I'd also say is that... this is a phenomenal organization.
I was a Board Member & I served on the board and participated in volunteer activities

I've been involved with many non-profits through the years. What strikes me most about Next Door is the organization's devotion to their cause - to end domestic violence in the moment and for all time.
Having served as a board member for five years, I'm continally amazed at the dedication and selflessness that all members (employees and volunteers) of NextDoor give to the victims of domestic violence. Leading and working for a non-profit presents constant challenges. This organization consistently rises to the challenge to best serve the community. I would encourage any one interested in this cause to learn more about NextDoor. I'm sure glad I did.

The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... the South Bay community. It's a critical piece of the social services fabric.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The people.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Selfless. Every person they serve matters.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Build a new shelter and expand services.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... There was more government funding to support its efforts.
- If I ran this organization, I would... struggle. I'm not sure I have the resolve or dedication that NextDoor employees and volunteers exhibit on a daily basis.
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Government grants and private funding given the current economic client.
- One thing I'd also say is that... Kathleen Krenek has provided great leadership to this organization.
When I was five years old my mom had an ex- boyfriend that decided if he couldn't have her know one could. He broke into our house in the middle of the night and proceeded to beat her to death. He ended up braking her nose, eardrum, and knocked out all most all her teeth. Then called back and she answered the phone and said he was coming back to finish the job. He got one year sentence. I wanted to give to this cause and found this group called Next Door Solutions on the internet and have been a donor for several years now. The group of people that work there are outstanding. I am so proud to be a small part of what it is they are doing to help these woman and children.
The Great!
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... outstanding. They gave me a tour of the facility and keep in touch with me by email or personal notes. My experience with them is one that will last in my heart forever.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... getting people to help with donations.
