I have volunteered with OTA for a few years now. It is a wonderful feeling knowing you are sending a little piece of home to the Soldiers who so bravely give so much for all of us back home. Not only does OTA send personal items, OTA also sends cards to the soldiers. Collecting the signatures, wishes and blessings from so many people here at home to send to the Soldiers Marines and Saliors to hopefully brighten their day. Reading the letters of thankfulness from all the service men and women and happiness that OTA has been able to share. The hard work and dedication that Kristen and Monica have to this organization is because of their dedication to the troops serving so far away,,, This is truly a special Organization to be a part of.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Reading letters of thankfulness sent from the troops to OTA expressing their thoughts ,,,knowing the folks back home truly care.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing,,, if it's not broke don't fix it!! Except,,,, try to hit the powerball so I could personally give more.

I became aware of OTA though friends who put a great effort in collecting items and gifts for our troops through a yearly grand picinic given at their home. Many people attend bringing items and gifts for our troops, also cash donations to support OTA's efforts. Besides everyone having a good time, and getting the opportunity to help our troops; this picinic keeps us all aware of the great sacrifice our troops endure, and reminds us how important it is that we support them, and give them our encouragement throughout the year.

OTA was my service project for my Girl Scout Silver Award. I collected Beanie Babies that OTA sent to the troops to give to the children in the wartorn nations where are service men and women are. We also collected items for the troops. The work that OTA is priceless to so many American Soliders. Keep up the good work!!

My husband and I became involved with OTA after our nephew served 2 tours in Iraq. He told us of many things that we take for granted in our everyday lives that those soldiers do without or must try to purchase on their own. We were fortunate enough to have the financial means to send items to him and his unit but were aware that that may not be the case for everyone. After his time in the military ended we began helping the soldiers of other families through OTA. We consider it an honor to help those who sacrifice so much.

As quartermaster of a VFW Post (6664 Library PA) I am constantly asked to contribute to a number of charities. Our post, as a matter of policy, investigates these appeals for funds. Our investigations - contacting the soliciting organizations requesting the funds for details of the activity of the organization, investigating the non-profit filing requirements (form 990), and contacting other veteran organizations for their input, have convinced us that OTA is a bonafied service organization devoted to servicing our troops during the performance of their service to our country. I am most impressed that OTA's administrative expenses are only 1.5% of the contributions they receive - meaning the 98.5% of the monies raised go to supply our troops with moral boosting items - and, upon review of their federal form 990 that no one is compensated for their involvement in OTA.

My family and I have been long time volunteers for OTA. It is not only rewarding for the troops but for ourselves too. OTA is a wonderful organization to be a part of. OTA fulfills wishes to our deployed troops. Just reading the thank you letters and seeing the pictures of all the grateful soldiers warms your heart. Since volunteeing with OTA I have made new friends who have joined our packing parties or donation drives. It is truly a non profit organization because not one person gets paid. We are all there for the same reason to provide moral support and bring a little of home to all those overseas.

I can't say enough great things about OTA. Without them, many of our troops wouldn't have items to help them cope in the field. As a father of an Airborn RANGER Staff Sergeant (I'm pretty proud of that, as you can tell) I couldn't believe the "small" items that were NOT issued to our soldiers going to war. Made me wonder why I was paying taxes if our soldiers weren't equiped with the best items. In the first deployment, in all of that sand, they couldn't get gun cleaning supplies !!!! WHAT !
I sent the entire unit cleaning supplies. That's when I learned about OTA and all they do. Now, no matter how tuff my year is, I donate money to them. Keep up the great work Folks. Hooaah.

I have volunteered with OTA on many occasions, and I cannot think of more dedicated individuals. It was and is an honor for me anytime that I can work with them.
It makes me both proud and humble to be a part of serving those who serve for us. Our brave men and women fighting overseas give
so much for each of us. They make it possible for us to enjoy and even take for granted the small creature comforts they we have. I think it's wonderful that OTA tries to bring some of those very same items to our deployed service members! It is but one small way for us to say "thank-you" and give to those who give it all.
All one has to do is visit their site to see the letters and photos of our troops to see what a fabulous job this organization pulls off!
