I became aware of Operation Kindness when a stranger dropped two puppies in the bed of my truck while I was inside shopping at my local grocery store. The pups were scared and had no home. I couldn't take them as I had a 6 month old puppy plus a senior dog. Operation Kindness helped connect us with a donor and they were indeed adopted! That was 2005. 8 years later I am now working with the group as a board member. It has been a phenomenal experience for me. Our board is a diverse group of folks who all have the animals at the very center of our efforts. We strive to be a smart, hard-working, active board and because of that I think the halo effect on the animals is a positive one. We have an outstanding group of staff and volunteers that make the group successful - Operation Kindness has helped save and adopt over 75,000 homeless animals since it's inception.

As a donor, longtime volunteer, adopter and former Board member, I feel very lucky to be part of Operation Kindness. It is a first rate organization with a professional, committed board, and excellent, caring, animal-loving Staff. This No-Kill shelter is Nirvana for the animals that are lucky enough to be temporary residents until they find their forever homes. The volunteers are committed and wonderful folks.

(My review is for the Carrollton location) I believe in Operation Kindness. I financially give to Operation Kindness. I've adopted two of the best kittens I've had from them. Operation Kindness does a great job in caring for and finding homes for companion animals. They have a beautiful shelter that is clean and well lighted, staffed mostly by volunteers. They now have medical staff available at te shelter who can provide medical care, spaying/neutering services, and checks out cats/kittens and dogs/puppies before the adoption is completed. I am glad to see there are no over-paid staff/executives listed here. There are a lot of fundraisers but they are necessary to bring in money to care for the animals entrusted to them. Believe me, the adoption fee doesn't begin to cover the cost of food/litter/medical care for the cats and dogs they care for. Some are older and will be there lifelong since most people want kittens and puppies rather than older animals. Some have medical problems that essentially make them unadoptable. After having two cats that had serious medical problems at a young age and the escalating cost of caring for them, I have a greater understanding of the costs of caring for a pet. Operation Kindness does a wonderful job and I highly believe in them and wouldn't hesitate to give my charitable dollars to them!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The pets I've adopted from them. They have been well cared for, well fed, and Operation Kindness has done all they can to ensure the pet is healthy at the time of adoption. One kitten I was going to adopt turned out to have a case of ring worm breaking out. The staff would not allow the cat to leave the building until they had the chance to quarantine the kitten and treat her so that the ringworm was eradicated before they would allow her to leave the facility.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None. The organization does a great job with the money they receive. I believe in Operation Kindness and my charitable dollars definitely go to them!
