Operation Homefront has been very good to me. I have received assistance from at the chapter level when living in an area where there is a chapter and have received support from the national staff as well. They have provided great service and been a huge help to my family. Of all of the military organizations out there, I would seek out Operation Homefront before any others during my times of need. I am so happy to see them have such great success over the last few years. My husband just retired so while they might not be helping me, I am glad they will be here for many other families for many years to come.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have benefitted from many of their services over the last few years.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

help them set up more offices in states that don't have chapters. There are a few states that really need chapters.

As a donor to Operation Homefront, I can say Operation Homefront is an amazing organization. I did my due diligence and reviewed their financials, 4 star Charity Navigator rating, AIP "A" rating, their board membership and their strategic plan. I have found that their staff is knowledgable and proficient and their board engaged and supportive of the staff and the work of the organization. I give monthly to the organization and will continue to do so. They have been great to work with and really appreicate me as a donor.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have met families they have helped and have seen first hand the work they do. I also have seen results by reviewing their financials, annual report and strategic plan.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would expand the scope of who they serve so they can serve wounded veterans who have been out of the service longer. I would give them more money to support this extra need.

I have been a financial and service donor to OH for 4-years now and have seen real results as the DC metro chapter has served the significant needs of our deployed troops' families and the large number of families healing from the significant wounds of war at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and other military medical centers in the chapter's three-state footprint. I have the utmost confidence in their ability to manage the organization to get the biggest bang for my donated buck and I have personally witnessed their staff going above and beyond the highest reasonable expectation to meet the needs of these families. You can't go wrong supporting this fine group of selfless servants.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

transitioning military families who had lived in one room hotel-like accommodations for over a year while they were going through medical treatment into no-cost apartments where they were able to heal quicker and with a reduced stress-level for both the injured troop and his/her family. This is one of hundreds of examples of the significant impact of this group on our deserving military families

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Apply it's excellent performance to more remote areas once funding becomes available

This is an organization with a great mission, but a serious need to professionalize itself. Specific goals should be:

- Building stronger chapter relationships.
- High ethical standards among top levels in the organization.
- Better organization and project planning.
- More structured relationships with donors.
- More emphasis on cash versus in-kind contributions.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

In addition to the changes identified above, change the present leadership team.

When I returned home from Iraq in 2007 I had nothing. My husband had decided to leave right before I deployed and I was starting over as a single mom of a 4 year old. Operation Homefront was able to match me with people who provided a bed for my son and other furniture for my home. I will always be greatful for their help at a time that was very difficult for me.

My husband returned home from Afghanistan a quadriplegic. Though I was trained to care for his physical needs, I had no idea what was in store for me in dealing with the psychological and emotional trauma resulting from his physical dibilitation. We had 3 children (the youngest born while he was deployed), all under 7 years old. I was so shell-shocked & focused on the technical aspects of our lives - finances, career prospects, home/vehicle modifications, etc - that I was completely blind-sided by the intimate issues that confronted our relationship because of his new fears & insecurities. Operation Homefront helped me connect with other wives of wounded warriors, so that I could vent, ask advice, seek resources & government policy information - basically recognize that I was not as alone as I always felt being confined to my home with my husband's needs and frustrations.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

When things got really bad and I felt at the end of my rope with the confusion and frustration and anger and helplessness, Operation Homefront sent me to a wounded warrior wives retreat that was informational, educational, and psychotherapeutic. It was powerful and healing at the same time. I learned so many things about why my husband was acting the way he was & what I could do to defuse situations that might escalate into trouble - they helped me so that I can better help my soldier, my love, & my hero.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would make the programs OH supports available in every state so that those who attend could be a local life-line to each other after connecting in such a powerful & supportive way.

First of all, everyone that we have ever had to deal with were top notch. I am so glad that I got to share the experience with my son!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing first hand how wonderful they are taking care of the military families.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very friendly, helpful and willing to stop and talk.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help so many military families.

Ways to make it better...

more people got involved with such a great cause. I mean the people here are great, but I think that more people should volunteer their time to this organization. They are doing so much good for the military communities!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the other organizations that scam military families, it may make some families scared to deal with different organizations. I also think that more companies should start getting involved so that this organization can do more for the military communities.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the work that this organization does for military families is very much appreciated.

I have been following Operation Homefront since it's inception in Southern California. It's amazing to see how many families they have helped and how they do it on such a small amount of overhead. A friend of mine is an injured Marine and Operation Homefront continues to help him gain back his confidence and quality of life. They have provided him clothes, food and essentials that you and I take for granted. I am proud to be a donor to this organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change lives every day by providing financial assistance to more military families and wounded warriors.

Operation Homefront provides the kind of assistance that our troops and their families really need today. From paying bills to ensure electricity isn't cut off, to providing housing for our wounded warior heros, this organization is really what philanthropy should be all about. Just this Christmas alone, they partnered with Wal Mart to ensure that the holidays were happy for the children of deployed soldiers. Also, in 2009, 95% of funds went directly to troops and their families. It's how a non-profit should be run.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

it helps in the ways that are most needed in a quick and efficient manner.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

world class.

Operation Homefront is an amazing organization! I have personally witnessed the support they provide our military families. As a disabled veteran and now a military spouse, I cannot tell you how much their support means to our military families! They are the number one resource out there to support military families in my opinion!
