I have watched Operation Gratitude grow from one of Carolyn Blashek's first interviews on TV. I have personally contributed items on the wish lists and have been able to get groups together through my church and other organizations over the years for contributing. Too many people say they are going to do something "someday" -- Op Gratitude has grown and thrived because someone believed that this had to be done NOW........I am a grown-up Air Force brat and am brought to tears over and over again by the stories Op Gratitude shares from the soldiers, and my favorite times are when I know a soldier is going to go open a milestone package. It's hard to put the thanks into words for Ms. Blashek and her believing that this could be done..........all the littles do come together to make a BIG difference!!! And once again.......proof-positive that the USA colors never run!!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Personal donations, getting friends, co-workers and members of my church to donate wish list items. I have also made some personal monetary contributions.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes needed.

We had a senior member of the military who works with Operation Gratitude came to our kids' school to speak about like in the army, being at war, and conditions in Iraq. He was fascinating and the kids were riveted. He was really especially equipped to talk to teens in a meaningful way. We were very grateful to Operation Gratitude for sponsoring him in our schools.

As a prior service member, I cannot impress upon you how uplifting it is to receive such generosity from strangers, in any form. In recent years, I have helped put together care packages for service members, full well knowing that there will be a hard-working, well-deserving service man or woman on the receiving end. Thank you for what you do, Operation Gratitude.

Because two of my nephews were serving in the US Military I had the opportunity to have a bunch of my little friends (kids at church) create cards for the soldiers after being informed about Operation Gratitude by my parents. It was such a sweet blessing to feel that we could bring a bit of cheer to those who were giving so much for our country.

Hi, my name is Monica. I am the proud wife of a deployed soldier who recently recieved a care package from Operation Gratitude and just wanted to say how wonderfull it was to hear my husbands excitement when he opened his package. He described all the great things the package contained, how he loved reading the letter from a little girl thanking him for doing what he does and how awesome the snacks were.
It gets hard out there for them especially those like my husband, who don't recieve much mail, so to have an organization like Operation Gratitude really helps to lift thier spirits. I was lucky enough to be on the phone with my husband when he opened his package and I must say, it was great. I could hear the excitement in his voice and in the voices of those around him. He's spoken of that day for the past week. And it came at just the right time, since my husband has been at a small COP without many of the everyday things we have, such as a washer, for the past 257 days.
I can only hope that every service member has the chance to get such a wonderfull gift. Operation Gratitude and all of its volunteers do such amazing work to give those over seas even the smallest piece of home that gives them the biggest smile and brightest day (other than coming home ofcourse). May God bless all those at Operation Gratitude and all of our service members, and may he bring them home safe and soon!!!

I personally know the effects that Operation Gratitude has on deployed soldiers as my husband is deployed and has recieved a care package from them. I had the pleasure of being on the phone when he opened the box and know the joy it brought him and the other soldiers around him.

If I had to make any changes, I would expand this organization so that there would be more places that more people could help. I would love to volunteer putting together packages however thier location is too far for me to travel.

I have a nephew serving in harm's way in the ARMY. I sure am glad that there is an organization like this to help keep morale up for the troops serving to guard our freedom. I send him little care packages, but it is nice to know that others in his unit will also some packages adn thanks for their service as well.

Our office began participating in Halloween Candy Buy Back a number of years ago. Each year we grow because the kids want to do something special for our military. They put a lot of thought into the cards they make! Local businesses make prize donations and the whole community is supportive. The work Operation Gratitude does is indescribable! We are grateful there is an organization available to us that helps so much!

Our church family had the fortunate pleasure of collaborating with OG this past year to send appreciation cards to troops. The experience was so rewarding for members of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. We were so impressed with the professional demeanor of OG contacts. It was quite obvious they felt grateful for our help and had the troops' welfare at heart. Good luck, you definitely deserve to win this.

I have been impressed with all the work Operation Gratitude has done to help our service men and women overseas. I was proud to help out as a volunteer at the Armory one weekend as we assembled packages and letters to send. I encouraged young people whom I worked with to write letters of support to our soldiers which I felt was a great way to open these young minds up to the experience of giving. I only wish I was able to help out more.

As a former volunteer - and mother of a current recipient of an OpGrat package, I've seen this organization from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and patriotism which inspires the volunteers during an "assembly" day; and my son received a package from an organization which just cares - not like getting something from mom! This is an incredible cause and one to which everyone can feel good about giving, whether monetarily or in terms of time and goods. Kudos to Carolyn and her team!!
