I have benn volunteering for OneWorldHunger for the past two years, and it was great. I learned so much about hunger, and how the world needs our help more then ever. I have volunteered to many of the OWH clothes drives in the bay area, ca. The company is very professional, and the president is a very outgoing gentlemen who cares a lot to help Afghanistan. Over all this non-profit is great!

It has changed a lot of people's lives... Working with one world hunger I learned a lot how to help those unfortunate people who live below poverty and their donations definitely made a big contribution in Afghanistan.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have personally seen and met people who still ask about OWH and admired their work. A piece of bread just dry up the tears of those hungry kids that I met under the cold tents in Kabul.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would made it bigger and expand it to more regions where people don't have enough food to stay alive. I would increase the donations by fundraising locally. In other countries a piece of bread contributes more than thousand of dollars that World bank promises and then gives it to the hands of rich people of the corrupt gov't.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
I dont think any specific improvement is needed for my experience, instead more focus should be on the poor.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Yes, it build my confidence to talk to new people, help organize donation events, ask people to come and help others. If humanity was a skill, then i would say yes, it definitely makes u see the world differently mainly more towards giving and being helping to others.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
I felt great! At the end of the day at least I made some people smile or some people to be hopeful to live and believe that there are people who want to help as far as they can. Sometimes I wished I was rich enough to help those hungry kids and stop them from crying.

One World Hunger shares a lot of stories from real people who are hopeless and cannot find help else where. They families, individuals mostly widowed women, battered women, orphaned children and disabled elders who have nowhere to live and no income. I am glad to see updated pictures from where ever they help for those to see their contribution makes a difference. Thank you OWH!

As I looked through the website list of places to volunteer, One World Hunger appealed to me right away since I always wanted to help my community and plus it is located where I live. I helped with 2010 Hunger Walk in Newark, CA. It was my first experience because I've never been to a walk a thon before. It was OWH's First Annual Hunger Walk and they had live music, food booths, clowns, fun rides for the kids and a Walk. So it was great for the whole family. I felt very comfortable with the other members of the organization and they made me feel welcome.
I just noticed a flyer while I was at Starbucks for OWH's 2nd Annual walk at James Logan High School on October 16th 2011 at their Track and Field. I am so excited! I will get your number from your website, sorry I changed phones =)
Thanks! Erika C.

Mr. Douglas and I have been both volunteering through our work by collecting school supplies for low income children. Like Mr. Douglas I am pleased to see such enthusiastic children delighted and thrilled about learning.
I've read the below reviews and I couldnt have said it any better. I just wanted to write a review also to let others know that although this organization isnt as substantial as others that they work very hard to help the community and others who necessitate to assist.

My work company donates school supplies to OWH anually since 2009 and since October 2009 I've been donating my time helping them distribute school supplies to elementry schools that dont have enough money for their school to provide for these low income children. It is really sad to see their beautiful faces frowning and so eagerred to learn. OWH has been shipping school supplies overseas to Kabul and Herat Afghanistan to the orphanages and camps. There are pictures to prove that they recieved it. I am glad to see young children wanting to learn where as some kids have free education, but do not want to learn.

I first started volunteering for OWH because I felt obligated due to some community service I had to provide for good couple of months for school. To make a long story short, I am so glad I gave my time to volunteer because it helped me realize how the world works, what kind of people are there and that not everyone lives comfortably. I've learned to work hard in life to make a difference in someone's life as I get older and motivated to go to college so I can become someone important one day. I am also eagered to donate my time more often especially in the community. I dont know how to show my appriciation to One World Hunger as I do not work and only go to school, but I know one day when I do have the money I will donate not only my time, but also money to help those that cannot provide. Thanks for a great couple of months!

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Made new friends and learned about new cultures and how fortunate we are living the way we are compared to those who do not have it.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
felt sad because of all the hunger people out there, but felt really good about myself because I know deep down I had a great impact on most of the people I've helped.

I have been an active donor and volunteer to One World Hunger for the past 2 years and follow their work and new initiatives closely. My attention was focused on the importance on empowerment of the poor women in developing countries such as Afghanistan for economic self-sufficiency.
By donating to One World Hunger I can assure you that when women become earners (get them out of the camps, so they can get an education or start to work by sewing clothes, knitting clothes or rugs or even become teachers) their priorities will be to get food and education for their children as their husbands have died in the on going wars. They are widowed women who need our help and have never seen happiness only on going war since the invasion of the Solviet Union in 1979. By helping these innocent and vulnerable widowed women in camps of Kabul, Afghanistan it enables them to survive and feed their fatherless children. These women had children because at that time their husbands had decent jobs before they were killed in the war, but now they dont have anywhere to go and the government cannot help themselves yet alone the children and women on the streets. I know the world is going through a struggle right now, but at least we dont live in a third world country and have help and can help one another, but in countries like Afghanistan they do not have anyone to help because the majority of that country has been in war for the past 32 years. They have ONLY seen killing, violence and no food or clothes or shelter. Imagine all the children that were born during the war, they are now 32 years old and during the 32 years they have ONLY seen Blood, Killing, Hunger, etc.
Together we can help these poor women and their children day by day. I am so committed to OWH's work that I talk about the organization to my friends, family, women's organizations I am part of, and my church's international outreach. Most recently, with a goal of helping more of the widowed women I am going to establish an endowed fund connected with the Women's Fund in our local Community Foundation.

One World Hunger is an incredible foundation run by the kindest and most caring people that I have come across in a long time. The time and effort they put into volunteering to make sure families in Afghanistan are fed and kept warm is so endearing. I've made donations before, and what I love is that One World Hunger posts pictures up from each donation, so you see just where your money went, you get to see the faces of the innocent children whose lives you've impacted. My dollar may not be much here, but over there it has the power to feed many people. One world Hunger also has branched out and done a lot of donations for local causes in the San Francisco bay area as well.
One World Hunger is indeed A GREAT NONPROFIT!

Nothing at all. I just wish there were more people out there in this world to help out in this great cause and other causes like it.
I first began donating and supporting One World Hunger before I became fully involved in September 2008. I have helped in almost all the Fundraising, Clothing Drive, Toy Drive, Thanksgiving Food Drive and Festivals since October 2009.
OWH has touched my life because this organization is not only for donations and volunteers, but also like a family. We have grown so close with all the volunteers that have helped over the years.
It is very important to know where the funds go to and with OWH, it is not hidden. The founder of OWH values honesty and has a lot of faith in what his vision is. His vision is to help the less fortunate with resources, food and clothing all year round.
We improve world stability and resources by civilizing the most basic of human conditions – the need that low-income families, orphans and widowed women in 3rd world countries have for a reliable source of quality food and sufficient resources to access and purchase it.
One World Hunger is a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-deductible, non-profit charity.
We treat each person who comes to us for help with dignity. Besides their daily needs, we try to give them hope for a brighter future, and let them know that we care and that God cares. We are happy to come out and share what we do, to any group, school, business or organization.
