A well trained group of counselors comes to my class once a week for four weeks and works with my 4th grade students on resisting peer pressure. The children value their time with these adults. They are positive role models and were able to relate very well to the children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the character building of my students.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their professionalism and consistency.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, energetic and trustworthy.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be available more often and with more students.

Coming into my first day at P.A.S.A., our drug and gang prevention program, I was so nervous and didn't think I could make a difference. As I looked around the room at my other coworkers, I realized that this time we share with the kids is not about me, but about making a difference in their lives. Every time we leave a classroom we have made a difference and that is truly the best moment.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

possible impact on high risk children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get more funding.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

going into the children's classroom and making a difference.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

great, amazing and outgoing!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

service more school districts and target the family as a whole more.

Ways to make it better...

we could target more students.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

getting more funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I've enjoyed meeting so many amazing people who all have similar interests and having a child trust in you and value you. The staff and volunteers are very friendly, positive, approachable, understanding, genuine and welcoming. The only thing I wish were different was that I could have heard about it earlier!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the positive impact on the children and how they feel like they have someone who will listen.

this program really helps children open up and learn to talk to elders about there problems be it drugs, gangs, peer pressure or anything they have questions about. from the time they sit in the classroom with the kids they get to know them and talk to them about any of their problems. this is a great way to teach children what they wont normally learn in the classroom and i think that all kids should experience this program and the counselors.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

ive personally been in the classroom with the kids and listened to what some of the children are going through and was able to give them feedback and help them with thier situation

I have supported Omni Youth Programs for the past three years. I began as a volunteer working a few hours a week and ended up suporting Omni with my personal donatons of money and as a unpaid board member. Omni has the lowest overhead per dollar of donation of any charity that I support. (I financially support four other local children focused charities). The in-class programs that Omni has developed are very well recieved by every school that has recieved them. Omni Is truly making a difference in reducing drug use and gang membership through their grade school programs. This approach is cheaper and more effective than more law enforcement and prison, particularly in light of the budget cuts in all government services.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through feedback from parents, teachers and the students that have recieved the Omni anti drug and gang training.

I have worked with Omni Youth Programs for almost 20 years and can honestly say this program is very valuable to the communities we serve. What's so unique about our program is that we offer four to eight week small group facilitation so that the youth have a better opportunity to bond with an adult who can help provide positive guidance and support. We also give the youth an opportunity to bond and develop strong, positive relationships with their peers. These relationships continue to grow over the three years that our services are offered at each individual school. Omni Youth Programs also has a very professional and educated staff that are working with at risk youth because they have a passion and commitment to help make youth and communities stronger, but also because many of us have a strong passion to keep our youth free of drugs and gangs. I personally have seen how damaging drugs can be to a youth, their family and the community at large, and made it a personal mission of my own to work in this field to try to make a difference. This program has helped me reach my goal of giving back. I grew up in a low income at risk environment and became the person I am today because I had strong role models that took time out to spend with me and keep me pointed in the right direction. This is what I see Omni providing to the youth they work with.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have dedicated almost 20 years of my life to help keep our youth safe. I personally worked at the schools with the youth and families for over 10 years and was able to experience first hand how giving back to youth made a positive difference in their lives. I had the opportunity to counsel youth who were on the verge of running away, and helped other youth stop using drugs. I realized how important one hour per week with a child who just needed someone to listen really was.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Definitely help it to reach a larger population. I would continue to seek grants and do all that I could to help raise funds to keep the doors open.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Working with the youth and seeing their smiles everytime we entered the classroom. I also enjoyed reading through the Thank You cards that they personally made for us. I also enjoyed working with the staff and many volunteers over the years.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Phenominal. They are all very friendly and very knowledgeable in the field of drug and gang prevention. All volunteers and interns are treated with respect and most become friends that we are able to continue corresponding with after they have moved on.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Increase the number of youth and families receiving our services for free, open more facilities, and train other individuals to provide the same quality program to other communities.

Ways to make it better...

We were able to stay even longer at the schools. The bond that you develop with the youth, the teachers and the schools is a very strong one and it is sometimes difficult to say goodbye at the end of program.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Definitely funding. Due to the stringent economy, many non-profits including ours continue to face huge budget cutbacks that threaten the exixtence of programming and staff. Everyone, including the Board is trying to bring in additional funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I'd appreciate more funding to continue to help our youth live happier, longer lives, and our communities grow stronger and safer.

I became involved with the Omni Youth Program about six years ago. I became a board member and since then I now serve as the President. The Omni Youth Program has become one of the most far reaching programs in the Del Paso School distict for drug and violence prevention. The programs work with the children and parents. It has helped the community in one of the most violent locations in the Sacramento areas. The progrms reaches out to a large number of children and parents. It has provided services to around 900 children and 1,200 families in the school district. Hopefully, the program will have the funds and support needed to continue their efforts in the fight againist drugs and violence in the schools it serves.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

person and the dedication of the management and staff.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

To be a part of the organization on the Board and assisting in ways to help and improve the program

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very professional and involvement in the programs to reach children and parent for a free drug and violence at home and schools. The program works with teachers to support their efforts in the class rooms.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spread the programs to other schools within the Sacramento area.

Omni Youth Programs is an exceptional agency that makes a huge difference in neighborhoods with heavy drug and gang involvement. It's surprising how many pre-teens confide to the counselors that they have been doing drugs with their parents daily since they were 8 years old. But once PASA starts, they really hear what the counselors have to say, and quit using! And, many of them change their views towards gangs. For the first time they think about what it really means to their future and their family as innocent bystanders if they join. Another exciting thing is that teachers say that once Omni Youth Programs starts coming to their class, they spend very little time on resolving student conflicts after every recess and lunch. That's because the program spends a lot of time on resolving problems without violence. Teachers hear the youth telling each other to not fight and just talk it out. Very different from before Omni got there! Everyone involved in the agency is extremely dedicated, competent and show a great deal of respect for each other. Very stringent and ethical business practices are applied and there's never been a legal or ethical complaint or problem since the formation of the program. Omni Youth Programs been around for over 30 years for many good reasons. It's a great organization that gets meaningful results and truly makes a difference in the lives of youth and families in Sacramento. I'm very proud to be a part of this organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the evaluation results collected from youth, teachers, and parents. They prove this program works & the results are signfican meaningful to the participants. Everyone is effected positively from involvement with Omni - youth, families, volunteers & staff.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the real difference the program makes, the dedication and commitment of the people involved with Omni, and knowing that what I do makes a difference to these amazing children, their families, and the greater community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

exceptional! Everyone is extremely dedicated, committed and care enormously about the children, families, people who work and volunteer here, and the agency's success. It feels like a family with everyone happy to see each other.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

become a model program and then have it available to schools all over the country. The impact would be enormous!
