We adopted two cocker spaniels from Oldies But Goodies Cocker Soaniel Rescue; Boots in 1997 and Simon in 2002. They were fabulous dogs, and OBG made both adoptions wonderful experiences! Both dogs were in horrible shape when OBG took them , but the volunteers saw something worth saving in both dogs. And we're so glad that they did. We appreciated how thorough the adoption process was, and how they worked with us to find the right dog for our family each time. We are very grateful to OBG for giving these dogs a chance and allowing us to make them part of our family.

I started fostering for OBG after my beloved geriatric mutt passed away. I fostered several special needs and geriatric dogs, dogs that most organizations would turn away. Two of them turned out to have owners who were desperately looking for them - one had been found 30 miles from home and the second was a Katrina dog (OBG took in 9 from Katrina, not all cockers) whose owner was thought to be deceased. If not for OBG these dogs couldn't have been reunited with their owners. The volunteers are fun, friendly people who are tireless in raising funds for vet bills and getting dogs adopted. Cockers are high maintenance dogs that arrive at shelters in terrible shape. OBG transforms these dogs and you'd never know the dog has seen a bad day. My only "foster failure" was a mess when she arrived and within months people were asking me if she was a show dog. I'm now a firm believer in foster-based breed rescue.

10.5 years ago my family adopted our first dog from OBG, we wanted to add an second dog, I saw OBG on the news and emailed OBG about the dog on TV. Our home is different then most, I run a family childcare business, and had young children of my own at the time. We had to adopt a dog that was perfect with children. OBG found our wonderful dog Duffy, who is now over 11 years old and is perfect. We went on to adopt 2 other dogs, Mitzie was a "foster failure", my daughter also adopted 2 dogs from OBG. OBG has wonderful volunteers, I have met many great people who I have become friends with. I have learned so much about dogs, care of the dogs, training of dogs. I have fostered many dog through OBG, I enjoy taking a dog into my home, and working with OBG to find the perfect home for the foster and the joy seeing him/her going to his/her forever home.

Twelve years ago my Cocker Spaniel Fred passed leaving my older spaniel lonely. Since I was aware of other breed specific rescues I search the internet and quickly found OBG Cocker Spaniel Rescue. I emailed the organization that I was looking for a middle aged (5-6 year old) spaniel to keep my senior spaniel company. OBG recommended little Leiba to us and we could not have been happier! About one year after adopting, I started fostering for OBG and now volunteer on the Board as well. Fostering dogs in need and placing them in good homes has been a win win not only for the adopted dog but for the happy adopters welcoming a new family pet member. People always wonder how I can give up my fosters and I always say, "I can save more dogs if I don't keep them". I've also been blessed to see how dogs help humans. Not long ago I visited one of my former fosters (Mimi) and her new owner looked wonderful. Since she now has a dog to walk and take care of she had shed some pounds and has a happy glow to her face. When I commented on how good she looked, she said, "It all due to Mimi - I've meant my neighbors and we go out for long walks". So I believe OBG is not only helping the rescue dogs but the new owners too :)

Oldies But Goodies is unusual, in the rescue community, because they take in older dogs, dogs with (sometimes severe) medical problems, and 'honorary' Cockers (usually mixed breeds). Dogs are fully evaluated and treated for their medical issues BEFORE they are put up for adoption. The adoption fee is the same regardless of the amount of money that OBG has spent 'making the pet the best that he/she can be'. When someone is looking for a furry addition to their family, OBG is always the first rescue that I recommend. Also, we have adopted two of our 'four-legged family' from them.

I adopted my cocker, Talia, from OBG a little over a year ago and they were the best. From the moment she was put up on the website in need of a foster, to three days later when I had her in my arms, they keep you informed about any questions you have and they always follow up. They were just as excited to help Talia find a home as I was to give her one. I will always go to OBG if I ever adopt again!

We recently adopted our second OBG dog. We took in our first one (Milo), in 2001, and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2011. I LOVE the Cocker temperament and contacted OBG as soon as we decided we were ready to adopt again. We have since taken in Beau, a mixed-Cocker. OBG is an exceptional rescue organization because they take in dogs that are in all types of condition and with all types of medical issues (including Cocker mixes) without consideration to age. They are one of the few rescues where folks can find an older, more settled dog ... which is what we prefer. They also are sticklers for making each and every dog 'the best that they can be' BEFORE adoption, by taking care of any medical issues PRIOR placing the dog with the adoptive family. Often the medical problems are VERY expensive (such as cataracts ). All medical procedures are paid for by OBG, with NO additional cost to the adoptive family. Whether a dog is healthy or 'healed' the adoption fee is the same! Many thanks to OBG for the wonderful work that they do! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new furry addition to their family.

We found OBG on the internet after our beloved Cookie, a rescue Cocker Spaniel passed away. I wasn't ready to adopt so I started volunteering and vacation fostering. Then we started fostering a bond pair, Maisy and Sally. Ten months later...We adopted Maisy and Sally (9 & 11 years young). They were wonderful dogs. Sadly they passed over the rainbow bridge after 2 & 3 years with us. But, I am gratelful for the time we had with them. This past year we adopted Macy, a completely blind, 8 year old girl. She is amazing and beautiful. I am so grateful I found OBG, the volunteers are wonderful people, they work so hard for these dogs, give enourmous amounts of time and often their own money for their foster dogs. OBG is so dedicated to helping save their dogs. Volunteer, adopt, donate. Everything helps.

During Christmas 2007 my husband and I adopted our mixed-breed ( cocker and King Charles spaniel ) Hokie, from OBG. They so graciously gave us a dispensation to bring him from Washington DC to our home in No. CA. and it has been a tale of pure joy for us ever since we laid eyes on him! We could tell that OBG had done a great job of taking care of him from the time he arrived at his adoptive home until we took him to his forever home with us. In 45 years of being dog owners and lovers, we've never had a dog like Hokie. He has to be the most intelligent and loving animal in this world! OBG is a truly wonderful rescue group, from the bottom to the very top and we would recommend them to anybody who would like to volunteer or adopt a dog!

Time and time again I am amazed by the amazing things OBG does. This organization and its volunteers make miracles happen. So many wonderful dogs are given second chances and get the care they need because of OBG. I am always happy to give when I can to support OBG's efforts, and have also enjoyed OBG events and fundraisers with my own cockers. I tell everyone I know about this great group!
