As a student of Miss Laura Tyson, I learned so much more than dance and performance skills. I learned about how to persevere, how to embrace self-confidence, and how to express myself through movement. Miss Laura is more than a dance teacher. She is a life-long friend, mentor, and advisor. Now, my daughter takes from Miss Laura, and I have the blessed opportunity to watch life come full circle.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my life and my daughter's life.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

everything!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve countless numbers of young people who need and deserve a wonderful arts education.

I am a volunteer for this organization as well as a parent of one of the dancers. As a parent of one of the dancers I can tell you that what she is receiving is so much more than dance, voice and acting lessons. My 11yr child is incredibly disciplined in all areas of her life. She is a straight A student and we attribute her hard work to lessons she has learned from what she has learned at OPA. We love being part of the OPA family.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the family atmosphere. These children have a real heart for giving to the community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, knowledgable, and have a heart for working with children.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

get its own building so that it would have the ability to reach out to more children.

We moved to the area this past year and were referred to OPA as our daughter is serious about dance. We had never done voice or acting . . . It quickly became evident that the program was very advanced and well suited for our family. It impresses me how quickly the children progress. My daughter was behind others her age, but was given the attention and instruction to catch up and thrive! It is a true testament to the fact that if you expect something out of a child, they WILL rise to meet the goals! Also, the family atmosphere made our move and integration into a new community much easier. We love it so much that our son recently started in the program.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

that my daughter is not only learning a great deal and improving her dance, but also improving her service to the community through sharing art.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

awesome. The instructors really want to be there and are very knowldegeable. The great atmosphere is a result of the great staff, they really make the program what it is.

I volunteered for Laura Tyson for about 4 months. She was an amazing person to work for. She always had the kids busy and working on something. Anytime i had to ask her a question about filing papers she somehow managed to take time out of teaching her students to make time for me. She was always polite and courteous. My younger brother and sister are currently enrolled in Oklahoma Performing arts and they both love it. Laura Tyson is an amazingly gifted instructor.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the friendly staff and the outgoing attitudes of Laura.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind and courteous

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a huge difference in not only Oklahoma, but also I believe this organization would go nationwide

My daughter has been a part of OPA for 3 years, my son for 2 years. We love everything about the program!! We especially love the community outreach, the staff, and the other kids. They keep kids so busy that they do NOT have time to get into trouble. I could not imagine our lives otherwise. The director, is phenomenal!! I have no idea how she gets it all done. They are way more than just a dance, voice, and acting company. They are a family!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching my children develop and grow. My son is no longer timid and quiet.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The way that all the volunteers can pull off a full ballet. Costumes, sets, props, makeup, hair. And it looks very professional.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very friendly, like a family.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Have it's own building. With it's own building I think they could reach out to more kids. People are a little hesitant to take their kids to a dance studio in a church. WoW, it would be amazing to see.

Ways to make it better...

She had enough money to hire a full or part time assistant. Ms. Laura the director, choreographs most of the dances, designs costumes, picks music, organizes music, contacts all the parents, teaches 6 days a week, writes grants, does taxes, and more.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The building.

One thing I'd also say is that...
