Results: OYC's middle school and high school age Concert Chorus is an award-winning group that has won major national awards at the Heritage Music Festivals several years running, and has sung and performed at community events all over the Bay Area. For the 2011-2012 season, in addition to OYC's annual winter and spring choral concerts, they performed at various holiday gigs around the East Bay, joined Lynne Morrow and Oakland East Bay Symphony Chorus in a performance of Carmina Burana at The Paramount, and traveled to Santa Cruz for Music in the Parks Festival, where they won First Place in our category and the esteemed Espiritu Award. Over 500 elementary school children participated in OYC's All-City and school-based Miracle Choruses in Oakland and Alameda last season. They performed with Mr. Steve of PBS Kids in the Oakland Holiday Parade, performed at Rhythmix Cultural Works' 5th anniversary celebration in Alameda, and wowed the audience at OYC's two annual concerts.
Target demographics: OYC serves children and youth ages 5-21 in Oakland, Alameda, and reaching throughout the East Bay.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 600 singers in the 2012-13 season
Geographic areas served: Alameda County
Programs: OYC produces two professional choral concerts per year for all of our singers, performs at Bay Area community events, and offers students vocal and performance training. OYC also offers in-school and after-school vocal and general music training to children in 14 Oakland and Alameda schools and community based sites, including a chorus for homeschoolers.

My 8 year old started oyc since she was five. So it's been three years . She loves it and I love it too! All the staff and music instructors are beyond awesome. My daughter I don't think will have stage fright. Thanks oyc for making my daughter shine.
