This organization is one of the strongest all-volunteer based groups I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I am honored to be a part of this amazing group of activists, and am deeply grateful for the drive and passion of all it's members to end all forms of sexual violence.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

several ways. I work on the organizing committee. I participate in the rallies and walk in the marches with hundreds of other activists. I am one of the co-producers/co-directors for the first annual V-Day Sacramento 2011 production of the Vagina Monologues. I see firsthand the effects of this group on the greater community, and it is awe-inspiring.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue the current efforts to broaden our scope of efforts year-round. We are already doing this for 2011, primarily with the V-Day Sacramento 2011 events, but I would like to see the efforts continue annually.

Sacramento Women Take Back the Night (WTBN) is made up of a phenomenal group of dedicated volunteers. It offers members of the Sacramento community the opportunity to be involved in and lead efforts to end violence against women. Volunteers can be as involved as they want from attending and promoting the annual Take Back the night rally, to becoming an active member of the Planning Committee. Using its collective voice, WTBN also collaborates with and promotes other organizations in the Sacramento area that provide supportive and preventative services to our community. The group of WTBN volunteers is also open and welcoming to new members and new ideas. For example, WTBN is expanding its efforts by putting on a production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" in April 2011 as part of V-Day 2011. WTBN motivates, excites, and challenges me and I recommend it enthusiastically as an organization- tiny budget, grassroots activism, and all!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Personally, WTBN has given me a voice against violence and also given me an avenue to develop my leadership, fundraising and nonprofit management skills. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with so many women of varying ages, backgrounds, and experience- it is a constant learning experience for me within a safe, supportive space.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Strengthen its infrastructure, develop more permanent sources of financing, and enhance its website to better reach the community. I do believe that there are many people out there who would like to be a part of this group given the opportunity- reaching and involving them is a goal I would like to achieve.
