I would not go anywhere else to adopt a cat or kittens. NAR is a dedicated organization and will go to extremes to save an animal's life.Their care and compassion exceeds all expectations. I have adopted quite a few cats from NAR and woud not hesitate to deal with them again.

I've kept in touch with this group since we adopted two kittens from them in 2007. They are everything you could ask from a rescue, dedicated, hard-working, and caring. The adoption process was thorough but went quickly and smoothly. Our intention at first was to adopt only one cat, Truffle. I am thrilled they talked us into adopting a second, Magic. I swear they taught Magic to jump into our cat carrier (just kidding). As I've followed their work, I continue to be super impressed with their high ethics and professionalism. This group will work relentlessly to do the right thing. As I read stories of the animals they rescue, the ones that make it and the ones that don't, I know it has to be heart-wrenching at times. NAR is a spot of light in a crazy world.

These wonderful people all put the animals first. They are relentless in saving many lives when others would look away or give up. My heroes are the lovely people at Northeast Animal Rescue!

I've adopted three cats from Northeast Animal Rescue. I have found the volunteers to be professional, kind, caring and knowledgable about their cats and cats in general. I like the fact that NAR makes great strides to find their cats a home or a good foster placement. I wish every single one of their kitties would find a good home. For the price of adoption, the cats are spayed, up to date with shots(per their age) and microchipped and you cannot beat that kind of care!
I would tell anyone who lives in the Philadelphia/Bucks County & surrounding areas to make NAR their first stop in adopting a cat.

In the love I receive and am able to give to my cats. I know NAR is not able to save every cat on the street but I believe they are making a difference when and where they can. And the ability to trap and spay feral cats also is a huge help.

In 2009, we experienced the loss of our beloved, rescued 16-year-old cat and wanted to honor his memory by opening our hearts and home to another kitty. We added not one, but two beloved members (who were brothers themselves!) to our family with the help of this amazing organization.
I can't say enough good things about the importance of their mission and the critical role they play in bringing love and light to the lives of homeless cats in Northeast Philadelphia and the surrounding area.
As we were preparing our application, I was grateful for the wise counsel from the group's founder in finding a perfect feline match. Post-adoption, I was so glad for the support that my cats' foster mom provided. The cats arrived at our house completely adored and lovingly cared-for. We are still in touch and I am indebted to her for being my babies' first mom. This kind of personalized experience is a signature feature of NAR's exemplary work.
We are fortunate to have found NAR - they have brought joy to us and to so many others. Their commitment and dedication to the cause of animal rescue is simply extraordinary.

Northeast Animal Rescue is a great organization providing a desperately needed service to the area. As a common trend, animal shelters around the country find themselves beyond capacity and turn to euthanasia as more animals come in seeking shelter. Northeast Animal Rescue shelters cats from around the area in foster homes rather than keeping them in tiny cages for days at a time. NAR has many caring and loving foster families that are willing to donate their time and money into finding forever homes for unwanted cats that are deserving of good homes. NAR is able to show the cats they have available for adoption at a local PetSmart shop in N.E. Philadelphia. That is where my husband and I went to meet some of the cats they had available for adoption in 2008. My husband's 17 year old cat had passed away due to aging and wanted nothing more than a cat for his birthday that year. Rather than looking to buy a cat from a pet store, we turned to adoption agencies. NAR came up in my search around the internet for agencies that were not only in the area but also had a convenient way/place to meet adoptable cats. When we met Jayme and some of the foster families at the N.E. Philadelphia PetSmart, we were amazed by how involved everyone was in not only the well-being of the cats, but also knowing their personalities and being able to share those details with potential adopters such as ourselves. We got to sit in the room with some of the sweet cats they had at the store from NAR while the foster families gave us details about each of the cats we looked at/interacted with. After having so many wonderful cats to choose from, we came down to one cat that seemed to tug at both of our hearts. Because NAR doesn't want to hastily adopt out cats to homes that may not be able to care for the cats, they require applications to be filled out by potential adopters. This is a great thing for both the cats and NAR. By finding out more information about potential adopters, NAR can find the best homes for the cats they foster. Even if it means not adopting out a cat to an adopter that is not suitable, NAR operates on the basic principle that they act on the best interests of the cats they foster. NAR is the kind of animal adoption agency that needs to be in every town across the country. They are a fantastic organization and have the most amazing volunteers. I recommend NAR to every single person I come across that is looking to adopt a cat.
As a side note, the cat we adopted from NAR in 2008 is a happy and healthy rambunctious cat that spends most of time playing with our older cat who is a grumpy old curmudgeon. They make the most perfect pair, especially when they curl up together on a bed somewhere in the house, as if they were siblings from birth. It was the best match ever, thanks to NAR!

I'm not sure what this question means! Sorry! If this is asking what benefit NAR provides to the community or even to me personally, I would say they are fulfilling a need that the community has on a large scale. The SPCA can only handle so many animals, and not all SPCA's are no-kill shelters. And even if they are no-kill shelters, they will stop taking in homeless animals once they've reached capacity. NAR cares about where their adoptable cats go! And that is important!

I would make carbon copies of this organization and put them around the country!!! NAR is a great organization for the community, and the volunteers are dedicated to finding good homes for these cats. They are also easy to work with and very accommodating in terms of being able to find appropriate times to meet the adoptable cats. They are thorough in their paperwork and the care they provide for the cats. I wouldn't change a thing about what they do or how they do it, except they should be in more places!

I adopted a six month old kitten from NAR in January 2011. I met them at PetSmart where they do their adoptions. They reviewed me as much as I reviewed the cat which is good. I was specifically looking for a rescue in foster care since I figure the cat would adjust better and also good with dogs. I met the foster parent, the NAR person and we reviewed everything about the cat and I took him. He's been great. About 3 months after getting him, he started spraying because we had painters there. I panicked and emailed NAR at about 5 AM and they got back to me around 630AM with how to handle the situation and offering all the help in the world. I really respect that kind of follow up and continuing support for my adopted cat. It's almost a year and he's doing just fine. Heck, he hasn't even shredded anything yet which just seems odd but who is complaining.

I have adopted 5 cats from Northeast Animal Rescue over the past 8 or 9 years. NAR is an amazing rescue organization, so committed to ensuring that their rescued cats find loving forever homes. NAR undertakes to capture, spay/neuter and release feral cats in order to reduce the population of unwanted and homeless animals. This seemingly insurmountable task is undertaken with patience, love and determination! When placing their adoptable cats/kittens, the volunteers at NAR do a wonderful job of matching animal personalities to human personalities in order to ensure the best possible environment for the pet. When it comes to animal rescue organizations, NAR is a shining example of what it means to "rescue"!!

My husband and I adopted a cat from NE Animal rescue almost a year ago. The introduction to "Tara" and all follow up contacts were professional and thorough. The Rescue provided us with complete medical records and history and offered care instructions. It was understood that Tara could always be returned to the Rescue if she was not compatible with us or our cat at home.
Our contact at the Rescue is always available to answer questions, and she is knowledgable and caring. Initially, there were problems between Tara and our cat, Pooter. Cindy offered valuable information to solve this issue. She is interested in knowing how Tara is doing and appreciates receiving photographs and updates.

It is a true pleasure to write about Northeast Animal Rescue. I have adopted 3 kitties from NAR over the past few years. Although some are kept at the local PetSmart, any time I stop by they are clean, well fed and if a volunteer is there, they are running arond and playing.
NAR is very conscious of the people they allow to adopt and they do a complete backgrond check on all prospective "parents".
Jayme is a real gem and so dedicated to rescuing feral cats and helping those living on the street.
