Recently we lost our cat Penelope that had been in our lives for 17 years. After her passing my father spoke of getting another cat because of how lonely he was. My family had never adopted a pet before so I did some research using Petfinder, and found out the great rescues in the area. Northeast Animal Rescue was one of them. You could tell just by their website how dedicated they were to their cats in trying to find them the best homes. So after some time looking through the website my dad put in a application to adopt a cat. Two days later he got a phone call telling him he was approved. Jayme made the adoption process easy by talking with my dad thoroughly about what kind of cat he was looking for. She recommended to him Cherokee Rose a dilute calico cat with the personality he was looking for. They set up a date and time for my father to meet Cherokee Rose. We met Jayme at their Great Northeast Petsmart location so we could meet her. When you walk in the first thing on your left side is where some of their cats are kept and you can't miss them. At the time we arrived the volunteers were cleaning out the litter boxes, cages, giving them food, and the love and attention they deserve. We were taken into a back room to meet Cherokee Rose with one of the volunteers and Jayme. Right away my dad knew she was the one for him. She is so sweet, loving, gentle, and well behaved my dad was ecstatic. Jayme described Cherokee Rose to my dad exactly how she was. Jayme knows so much detail of each of her cats it is simply amazing. After the meeting, and my dad deciding to get her Jayme walked around with my father in the store to show him exactly what Cherokee liked as far as eating, and playing. You could tell that she takes the time with each of her cats in understanding them so that way they can go to a home fit perfectly for them. I was really surprised she did that, and it was a lot of help. She made the adoption go easy and not overwhelming. The volunteers were extremely nice, and friendly. I am glad we got Cherokee Rose from them. I would highly recommend Northeast Animal Rescue to anyone in the Philadelphia area. They are simply amazing and can not express how greatly I appreciate all that they did for my father, and for helping Cherokee Rose find her forever home.

I have adopted all my cats through this organization. NAR is an incredibly hard-working group of volunteers who are all totally committed to finding loving homes for cats in need while at the same time working to reduce the feral cat population.

I have adopted 5 cats from Northeast Animal Rescue over the past 8 or 9 years. NAR is an amazing rescue organization, so committed to ensuring that their rescued cats find loving forever homes. NAR undertakes to capture, spay/neuter and release feral cats in order to reduce the population of unwanted and homeless animals. This seemingly insurmountable task is undertaken with patience, love and determination! When placing their adoptable cats/kittens, the volunteers at NAR do a wonderful job of matching animal personalities to human personalities in order to ensure the best possible environment for the pet. When it comes to animal rescue organizations, NAR is a shining example of what it means to "rescue"!!
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Adopting my feline "children" from them!
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would ensure they received more funding in order to further assist their efforts in feral cat rescue/adoption.

I am not impressed with the Northeast Animal Rescue. In my opinion, they are not professional, taking too long to respond, and their decisions are biased. My recommendation: think hard before involving your heart in this organization.

Northeast Aninal rescue is a dedicated organization. Thnaks to Jayme Bader, I rescued a blind cat who was appoximately 1 year old. She was going to be put down and Jayme put an urgent request on a social media sight. My family has adopted 2 more from her and her efforts need to ge recognized and applauded. The care and attention that these cats receive is beyond words.

I would not go anywhere else to adopt a cat or kittens. NAR is a dedicated organization and will go to extremes to save an animal's life.Their care and compassion exceeds all expectations. I have adopted quite a few cats from NAR and woud not hesitate to deal with them again.

Northeast Animal Rescue is a wonderful charity because they stay true to their mission and use every penny donated for their cause in reducing the feral cat population in Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. They are reactive in that they sometimes pull needy cats from local animal shelters to foster and find homes for them so they are not destroyed. I have fostered cats on behalf of NAR rather than the shelters because they are easier to contact than the shelters and far more cooperative. NAR is a proactive rescue also- they sterilize feral and stray cats. They educate the public and help people that feed colonies of feral cats get their fed cats surgically sterilized through the TNR process. I have had them personally help me trap cats to get sterilized preventing hundreds of more unwanted cats.

After our first two cats passed away, we decided to adopt from Northeast Animal Rescue. We saw the cats the organization had for adoption on display at PetsMart. We were inpressed with the detailed biography each cat had indicating its known background and whether the cat would fit in with a household that had other cats, dogs or children. The cats received excellent volunteer care while they waited to be adopted in their purrfect furever homes. Northeast Animal Rescue is unique because it is not a shelter housing cats in cages. Rather, it is a netowrk of loving foster homes that provide individual care for cats as they await adoption. We adopted two adult cats who are beautiful members of our household thanks to the loving care they received from Northeast Animal Rescue. We like to donate to Northeast Animal Rescue as "chip-in" donors for cats that require special but expensive medical treatment for disease or injury.
