nhco has literally been a lifesaver for me. I would be homeless if it were not for their help & the help of generous donors. I had fallen on hard times, had to quit my job because of various health problems. I am now waiting on word from social security disability(which is a nightmare). In the meantime i applied for welfare & the little amount of money I get from welfare doesn't cover my mortgage. I had gotten a forclosure notice from my mortgage company & nhco saved me from forclose. They gave me help with utilities-who to call, help with filling out paperwork-everything. I also recieve food every month(excellent selection),clothing, toys for the kids for Christmas, gift certificates for meals for Thanksgiving plus extra food. I have also gotten a lot of emotional support from them. I felt very welcomed the first time I went there. They didn't make me feel like I was just there for a handout. They really are there for you for as long as you need them.

NHCO is extremely helpful in various aspect such as, their food bank program, winter coats, school supplies for children, helping with payment of utilities, and so much more. They do not make you feel as if your less of a quality person when you ask for help. Sometimes you need help and they treat you like family. As a single parent i dont know what i would of done without them more than once. Thank you & God bless you all.

I have been a volunteer for NHCO for over ten years so I have seen this wonderful organization grow in their desire to help people in need and reach out to the community. We have been through floods in the Pine Creek area and Millvale. Those disasters taught us so much about what our mission should be and that is what we do. We feed, clothe, find jobs, help with utilities, provide rides for people for shopping and doctor appointments and provide counseling and the list goes on and on. I am very proud to be part of this wonderful organization.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the providing of food, utilities, counseling and jobs - many people say thank you to us and that they would be out on the street without our help.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

enlarge our current facility.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how the recipients are so thankful and appreciative of what we provide.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Kind, compassionate, self-sacrificing and happy to do what they do for people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Through the effective and skilled leadership of Executive Director Fay Morgan many of the needs of the people of this country could be solved.

Ways to make it better...

I would be able to give more of my time.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not enough hours in a day and the need to constantly look for money to help everyone in need.

One thing I'd also say is that...

God bless North Hills Community Outreach!

It is a privilege to serve on the Board with North Hills Community Outreach. We are constantly re-defining ourselves through the needs of our communities that we embrace. The people that I serve with and work through are graceful in what they do to help others.

I am currently in my second term as a North Hills Community Outreach Board member. It’s a great organization with an outstanding staff! Fay Morgan, the ED, as well as the staff and volunteers, make sure that our mission is continued. Our mission is to make sure no one is cold, hungry, or forgotten. We continue to serve thousands of families experiencing hardships on a daily basis. Many are not aware that NHCO was founded as a direct result of the devastating flood in Etna in 1987. It’s hard to believe that same hardship was repeated with Ivan and Katrina. Over the past 20 years, (We just celebrated our 20th year in existence!) NHCO has grown and expanded their mission to include many different outreach programs.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Many ways. We completed a recent major capital campaign to expand the facilities in Millvale to better serve the surrounding communties. We helped thousands of families and businesses that fell victim to the Hurricane Ivan and Katrina Flooding.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do exactly what they are doing! (Just probably not as well!)

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

All the people who work or volunteer for this great organization give of their hearts and proudly serve the mission!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Awesome!!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand their services in other cities and states!!

Ways to make it better...

If I had more time and could retire from my career! I’d love to give more of my time.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The need to raise money to meet the needs of the people (carry out our mission), while still having funds to cover their operating budget.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Fay and her staff do an awesome job! As a small business owner, I observe quietly how an organization operates. I notice the strengths and weaknesses and try to learn from them. NHCO has accomplished a great deal in a very short period of time and their growth has happened efficiently and systematically.

As an NHCO Board member, I have the unique opportunity to see the dedication and expertise of the staff - especially Fay Morgan the Exec Dir. - up close. Perhaps their greatest strength is an acute understanding of the everyday needs of north hills residents in crisis. They have developed programs that address the real needs of these people and show us success stories at every board meeting. It is truly an honor to work with them. Bill Miller

This organization is wonderful! I am a new volunteer and have enjoyed every second of my time here thus far! The staff at NHCO works day in and day out to ensure that people in the community are able to live a quality life and keep their dignity. My elderly grandmother takes advantage of one of their services - - the "free rides for seniors bus." This bus has allowed her to keep many of her freedoms and still meet friends for lunch, attend doctors appointments, and go shopping.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the thankful people that the staff at NHCO have been able to assist. People are so thankful to have this type of help and cannot say thank you enough!

I'm in my fourth term as a Board member of NHCO, having had to take a year's leave after the second term. Because I hear and observe the needs of the North Hills community, I collect food and coats and participate in as many fund-raisers as I can. Although I don't have direct contact with the recipients, I hear how appreciative they are of the quality of the service and the dignified manner in which it is offered. For example, instead of buying Christmas toys for the children of families in need, we collect money to help pay for their heat and light and allow them the dignity to make their own purchases for their children's holiday's gifts! I've observed our executive director develop NHCO from a staff of about eight employees to a wonderful, caring staff of about 25! The Board is very proud of the way she represents us to individual donors, corporations, and foundations. She is terrific!

This organization helps members of our local communities with various needs and problems. They provide food, clothing and help with gas and electric when needed. They helped and continue to help flood victims with various needs. They provide toys for children at Christmas. If this agency can't help someone with their problems/needs they provide direction to other agencies that can help. They give spiritual counseling and guidance when needed. Most needed is money to continue this excellent work.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Happy children that we provided back packs filled with school supplies. Elderly folks that now have a warm coat for this winter. Families that have food for Thanksgiving and toys for thier children at Christmas.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would hope to run it as well as Fay Morgan runs it today. In my opinion she is the best.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I enjoy the work and everyone at this agency makes you feel welcome and very much at home while you are helping others.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Always kind and very knowlegeable about what needs done. I've made many friends working on various projects as well as the people I work with on a weekly basis.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do so much to help so many people that are truly in need. These are our neighbors.

Ways to make it better...

We had a coat to fit everyone that needed one.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Having enough food to constanly fill the food bank for weekly distributions.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I love working for this organization. It gives me so much satisfaction that I am helping other people right here in my own community.
