Tremendous service the Depot provides to the teens of Darien. Our Band played there a few months back and the staff went out of their way to accomodate us and make us feel welcome.Truly look forward to interacting there again

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing revenue raised at a fundraiser go directly back to the teens in ways of parties and purchasing of new game equipment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The caring and adoration between teens and staff

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Warm and willing to help

The Depot provides a safe place for town teens to informally hang out and a venue for scheduled events such as dinners, team events, car washes, band nights, dances and more. More importantly, it encourages community service opportunities for teens to see how they can make a difference in the world. It also gives the kids a point of contact with adults other than their parents when they need someone to talk to who believes in them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

having the youth director, Janice, work with my teenage daughter and myself when there was underage drinking at a party. Janice was understanding and helped us work through the situation. Also, volunteering for SafeRides at the Depot - it saves lives !

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the difference it makes in our community ! For example, special needs young adults can enjoy a dance or a birthday party for a peer. They feel special and know they belong when they are at a dance at the Depot, dancing with teen volunteers. Joyful !

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

caring and understanding and compassionate but demonstrate "tough love" when needed. They really care about KIDS and get how stressful and demanding it can be to grow up in this society. They influence our kids well beyond the high school years.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach out to influence more kids, not only in our community but to the surrounding cities of Norwalk and Stamford, where our kids volunteer to help Social Services. The community service opportunities between our towns and those in need are endless.

I have worked in partnership with The Noroton Heights Depot at various event for the past 4 years.. The Staff and the Environment is like no other always working at 100%! The N.H. Depot is unmatched when it comes to Benefits for great causes and Hospitality for the youth. 5 STARS!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the hospitality and safe drug free environment for teens.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extremely Helpful and Caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the world!

When I was in high school, the Noroton Heights Depot provided my friends and I with, not only a safe place to hang out, but also a place where our local bands could play. Being a musician, it was always important to get as much exposure as possible! The events and volunteer work were perhaps some of the most fun times of my high school career. This place deserves as much support as it gave to me and my classmates!!!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the charity events that were organized. It was through the depot that we could hold band nights so that we could raise money for breast cancer, toys for tots, etc...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

having some place that could help make something happen, instead of just talking about it!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Most of the volunteers were alumni or current students from Darien High School so we all pretty much knew each other and got along fairly well because we knew the things we were doing were more important than drama.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

seriously make a difference in our town. Since Darien is not the most exciting place in the U.S., adolescence tend to go for the quick thrills of substance abuse. If the depot had more exciting band nights, games, and events,a lot more kids would b there

Ways to make it better...

My experiences were the best here, no lies!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Raising enough money for our specific cause!

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Depot and the staff, especially Janice, are the parents of Darien kids when they have nowhere else to go. They are always there when you need them! They deserve the best they can get!

I have been involved w/The Depot for over 10 years now. Both my children hung out there and were fortunate enough that we lived close and they were able to walk. I have served on different committees during my time on the board and continue to support The Depot. Great staff!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

many ways. From a safe, substance free community center for my kids to "Mom & Pop Shop" for myself and my husband.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get Janice a bigger office and more computers for the kids.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting caring, friendly people and dedicated students.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

AWESOME! Responsible, compassionate and fun. Always available to listen. Volunteers are extremely dedicated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build on to the original building, creating much needed room; stay constant w/the new games, etc. that come out.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to give

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Much needed repairs; not enough funding necessary to provide more staff, enabling The Depot to offer afterschool programs and to open additional weekend hours.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Please email this site to everyone you know, maybe it will help them to receive much needed donations!

I served on the Depot board for a few years and found the Depot to be the fun safe place for Darien High School students. The students get to do the most off the wall fun stuff there---jello wrestling, mechanical bull riding---(I wish I had things like that available when I was in school!) It really gives kids a healthy safe place to "hang out" and relax and be teens.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Great car wash--good job!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Their willingness to think and do different things.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Janice and all of her staff really love the kids and want them to have safe fun.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide services to more kids. Expand that number of computers there for kids to work on, and do more educational things for the students.

The Depot is a wonderful teen center serving students in Darien, CT. It is a terrific facility and the director, Janice Marzano is the best of the best! She is invaluable to the Depot and to the town of Darien. When my daughter was diagnosed with cancer in 1/07, Jamice and all of the kids and families of the Depot rallied and showed support in ways I never thought possible. It's a great place. Long live the Depot!
