bomb is much more than the typical "art" mag ...... you know, review, review, article, another article, review, and all sandwiched between a ream of ads
it peer to peer but also includes a much broader audience .....
the writing is insightful and goes into depth without getting bogged down
in that art-press-release hooey.
you should pick up a copy ........ it's really good

Bomb Magazine is the coolest, most informed, publication in its field. I cannot live without it. It represents both the poised, humanist tradition of American culture at its best and the energy of the exploring mind. Bomb does not waste time following fashion or trying to be hip. It is substantially fresh and deep, always. Lucio Pozzi, artist.

I have known BOMB for many years, first when I worked there as an intern. I was impressed at that time by the care with which the editors selected authors and then worked with them to assure their texts reached the highest possible level of literary excellence. Later, I had my poems published in BOMB, which I consider to be a highly significant recognition within the literary community. Through the years, I have always followed BOMB as a great indicator of ideas and art that are currently important, in New York and beyond.

I have been reading BOMB for over twenty years, and have felt honored to write for the magazine. It is an EXTREMELY important cultural force, the most useful and valuable publication in which one can hear the authentic voices of artists talking to artists. BOMB should be supported in every possible way.

BOMB is a national treasure. Its coverage of art, literature, and music is unlike the coverage available elsewhere because it's largely the work of artists, writers, poets, and musicians. The interviews that make up the bulk of its content have already been archived and will become an invaluable record for historians and scholars in years to come. It is a catalogue of everything important that has happened in the arts since its inception in 1981.

Several friends and aquaintances have told me that when they were featured in BOMB they immediately found a wider audience. "Everybody sees it," one of them told me.

I wouldn't change anything

I am an Italian writer living between the US and Italy. I work both as a screen and as a fiction writer. My films have been screened internationally including at the Venice Film Festival. Fiction is my passion and I have been reading Bomb for years. They have done a great job at bridging the imaginative and creative geographical and cultural gaps within me. They are more than an art magazine and more than a literary journal. Their voice and role in contemporary culture has been fundamental to artists, writers, and musicians because they are a voice, a conversation, a symbol of what the creatives of today feel and think. They represent a boundless approach to culture. In a world where it is so important to "define" ourselves as artists, Bomb gave me the opportunity to write and publish fiction without having to classify and restrict myself to a genre. Publishing my stories in their First Proof section was a liberating experience. It was like being in an imaginary room with like-minded artists and feeling like I was part of something that is bigger than any kind of academic definition.

Reading my work and the work of others I admire and feeling "part" of something.

I would make no changes. The magazine is a testament to the authenticity of all artists.

While I have never regularly worked with BOMB magazine, I have over the course of probably 15 years or so, have felt that it was a place I could turn to for a variety of things that I have written or felt needed to be published. I have always found them to be responsive and receptive and helpful in many ways. I have benefited tremendously from the work they do and feel that it is a very important and foundational print institution, when so many print venues are under duress. I believe BOMB should be supported in any way possible.

The staff of BOMB had reached out to me and asked me to contribute with written reviews on several occasions. This was for me a great opportunity and also a great professional "pat-on-the-back." I appreciated the act of support very much.

Two years ago I was also asked to contribute
artwork for a benefit. This was no ordinary request as I was asked to produce works specifically for the function. It was a lot of work and what I created was original and new. BOMB magazine's staff rewarded me greatly by using this work in the magazine and creating posters and really responding with tremendous support.

BOMB magazine is a great institution and the staff is a tremendously enthusiastic and hardworking group of believers!

BOMB Magazine excerpted a section of my forthcoming novel, and subsequently asked me to read at a promotional event. Becoming involved with the magazine and getting to know the brilliant and forward-thinking editors and other contributors was really wonderful. The exposure for my work was of course much appreciated, but even more so, I benefited from the contact with other writers and artists who were thinking hard about experimentation, engagement, and where we want the arts to be going.
