Keep on keeping on...
OK ?

Bomb was born in my house on Cedar St. by Betsy. Excellence of Bomb's being is its open mind, body, spirit and daily adventure.

Bravo Bomb

Bomb is genuinely one of a kind. The magazine has its finger on the pulse of contemporary visual arts and literature, and the cultural conversation at large. The art world it enlivens is a gathering of relevance, vibrancy, and intelligence. Each year, Bomb devotes unparalleled energies in "The Americas Issue" to the arts and writing of Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America and its various diasporas.

BOMB Magazine has played a crucial role in my life as a writer since I first contributed to its pages for the 4th. issue in 1982 up to the most recent occasion, Spring 2010 for No. 111. I take great pride in this and am infinitely grateful to Betsy Sussler for her dedication and tireless support of me and others over the years. The fact that BOMB is still going and going so well is due to her as much as to its contributors. I can think of very few independent magazines of such quality that have endured for three decades. That BOMB has not only managed this extraordinary feat but grown exponentially through all the vicissitudes of modern existence is sufficient testimony of course. That it is both unique and inimitable makes BOMB truly a GREAT non-profit.

BOMB Magazine excerpted a section of my forthcoming novel, and subsequently asked me to read at a promotional event. Becoming involved with the magazine and getting to know the brilliant and forward-thinking editors and other contributors was really wonderful. The exposure for my work was of course much appreciated, but even more so, I benefited from the contact with other writers and artists who were thinking hard about experimentation, engagement, and where we want the arts to be going.

For the past 30 years BOMB has managed to deliver the work and thinking of an extremely diverse group of artists and writers in a consistently high quality publication. The magazine reflects a humanist aesthetic of the highest order.

Bomb has been a central part of my life as an artist for over two decades. Bomb is invaluable in terms of discovering what other artists and writers are thinking , how they work, and what motivates them. -

Bomb makes room for substantive discussions of aesthetics and politics that
rarely make the mainstream art magazines.

As an US born artist living in Oaxaca, Mexico, I would say Bomb has been instrumental during the last decade in presenting the work of many Mexican artists to wider audiences in the US without simplification. This is a huge achievement.

I've been a contributor and contributing editor for a long time, perhaps almost from the beginning. I knew the editor and publisher, Betsy, before she started Bomb and knew it would be a hit as soon as she started it. Because Betsy had a good grasp of what wasn't quite there in the New York cultural world and also of where that world might be going. At a time when Artforum and the other art mags were becoming increasingly anti-theoretical Betsy let one write as one felt best, as she still does, while at the same time always being up for one's explorations into fields one hadn't investigated before--for example the essays on fashion I published in Bomb in the eighties. Bomb has become a journal no one doesn't read, there is always something short in there that gets to something one might well have otherwise missed, and something longer which is essential reading.

Bomb Magazine is an intelligent and prescient journal in the tradition of great literary and art journals of the past. Bomb avoid the sensational and trendy tone of so many current art and literature publications and instead offers a broad yet in depth glimpse into how and what artists and writers are thinking about....... The quality of appearance and readability of layout has improved vastly over the years.... It's magazine that real artists and writers actually read.

Bomb magazine sought out my contribution for articles in my field, and also asked my input for projects about artists and trends that were important to me. their format encouraged my participation, and has fostered an artist-artist dialogue, both on the micro and the community level, more than any other publication i know of.
