The Navy Marine Mammal Program (NMMP) Foundation exists to provide for the well being of the marine mammals that serve to protect our freedoms. It does so by ensuring the continuing care of our amphibious and aquatic teammates; and the furtherance of science that will benefit all marine mammals. The beneficiaries of the NMMP Foundation are all marine mammals, the public that supports the program, and the US Navy that guards our freedom. The focus of the NMMP Foundation is the building of a world class center and archive (Navy Museum) that houses the mammals, trainers, veterinarians, and scientists and provides the tools needed to sustain these sentinels of freedom. The center will support the life-long welfare and highest quality of care for all Navy marine mammals. The center will do this by providing a full-time staff of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and animal care specialists to ensure that necessary care and management processes are in place to provide for all the health needs of the animals. The center will also conduct research to support the development of systems and technology, and to gain a better understanding of the animals. Finally the center will strive to educate the public on the role of the Navy Marine Mammal Program in US and Naval History. The NMMP Foundation will strive to put in perspective the contributions of the Navy Marine Mammal Program and ensure the finest of care, now and in the future, for those most responsible for those contributions, the Navy Marine Mammals.
