As a program partner on the Zuni Reservation I have had the pleasure of working with the NRC staff. National Relief Charities is by far one of the best non-profit organizations that I have worked with. The entire NRC staff is awesome. They are very helpful and always willing to answer any question and help in any way. The personal care items and household items that they provide to the Elders in my community are so very much appreciated. By providing these items our Elders are able to purchase more groceries or pay a utility bill. We live in a rural area where economic challenges are faced everyday. NRC is a great help for those in our community that are on a fixed and very limited income. Thank you to all who work with NRC.

I was a program partner with NRC on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. The staff was always helpful and found ways to help me when needed. Their services and products were invaluable and much needed. This is probably one of the best non-profit organizations I have had the pleasure of working with.

All the incentives I receive for the Elder/Youth Program is very well appreciated. They truly enjoy all the wonderful incentives, which helps aide my program for attendance. With the economy today, and the fact that everyone is on a limited income, the shampoo's, lotions, bodywash, toothbrush/toothpast, ect. do help out. The clothing, shoes, socks, hats, sunscreens, bottled water, etc., are very beneficial, also. All the arts & crafts and exercise equipment are enjoyed by everyone. I could go on and on, to say that the National Relief Charities Program is doing an excellent job benefiting the tribal members. They are very professional in their respective jobs. I commend each and everyone of them in their respective duties and responsibilties. Last, but not least, I truly appreciate the fact that they even remind me of my report due date (at my request), and when the merchandise is delivered, it is always with a smile!

I feel NRC (Rapid City, SD) is a huge support for my program and our clients and communities. They provide my offices with inncentives to participate in our program. The NRC staff is an incredible bunch of people to work with. This is such a wonderful program that I recruit volunteers to work with them.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

collaboration with my offices in the various states through personal experience. My staff and I try to volunteer as often as we can to thank the organization for all they do to help support our program clients.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Yes, it made me feel as though I was helping so many people in not only the communities that our program is in but also in other communities.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Wonderful!

My name is Tamara Martin and I'm Secretary and foster home provider with a non-profit group called Blackhat Humane Society. National Relief Charities has been invaluable to our cause. Our group rescues and rehabilitates stray, abandoned and injured animals on the Navajo Nation in NE Arizona. With the help of NRC, we provide foster care for the animals, in our homes, until they are ready for adoption. NRC provides us with blankets, dog and cat food, bedding, toys, treats, collars and leashes. We can rely on them in times of shortage or crisis. NRC employees have gone out of their way to meet with us and they really listen to us. Their drivers are courteous and patient. They genuinely care about the Navajo people and their animals. With National Relief Charities as a strong, giving partner, we are making a difference in the lives of animals on reservation lands.

I am a volunteer with NRC and we are from Nageezi Senior Center-NAAA with the Navajo Nation- NCR is a great program and we have seen many things happen with in our senior center, elders enjoy the recreation, physical activities and food as well as arts and crafts, the incentives and food that is delivered by NRC helps us alot, where we don't have to find funds to get equipment for exercise and arts and crafts for elders, many elders are interested in the daily programs we run from our center and our attendance had grown since we have been with NRC. So we appreciate the services with NRC and they do an excellent job at serving their customers, which is a great thing. Thank you NRC

I have worked with National Relief Charities for over 10 years as a Program Partner and volunteer. I am a Supervisor with the Rosebud/Treasure WoRC Program on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, MT. The people we work with are living on TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and food stamps. They are far below the poverty level and struggle to meet daily needs and to purchase necessities that most of us take for granted. We have participated in the Healthy Living Program with classes on soft skills, Ethics, Anger Management, Budgeting, etc. We have also utilized the Bulk Distribution and participated in volunteering at the Warehouse in Rapid City. I cannot find the words to express how important NRC has been for our clients. They receive items they are not able to purchase with food stamps (cleaning supplies, blankets, personal hygiene items, baby products, toilet paper, and the list goes on and on). They are expected to work to obtain these items which in turn builds self esteem, Team building skills, and pride in community and their ability to accomplish something worthwhile! I believe this makes NRC a unique charity in that you are not just "given a free hand out", yet the clients they assist receive the help they so desperately need. The staff at NRC.... I cannot say enough about those dedicated, tireless, most awesome people! I have worked hand in hand with them at the Warehouse, they put in long and difficult hours without complaint, they remain always cheerful, and they make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of people every day! In all the years I have worked with them, I never once heard any of them say "that is not my job". They work together as a cohesive team from the warehouse staff to the top of the ladder! I cannot say enough good about this organization! My only wish is that we lived closer so we could take groups to work at the warehouse on a monthly basis! Keep up the good work NRC!! We love you here in Montana!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Watching clients earn self esteem, team building skills, and maybe best of all the smiles and look of relief on the face of a client receiving much needed necessities for their families!

I would not make any changes in this organization! They are wonderful! If you could clone them, that would be my only suggestion!!!

We have been partnered with National Relief Charities for the past decade or so and we are very grateful for everything that they do for us, as a youth program we work with all ages from birth-18 and even the parents and elders in our community. NRC has dedicated their time and contribution to help support our efforts we have received so much from NRC, from our Healthy Living request of personal hygiene products, cleaning products, parent incentives, Holiday requests, Easter, School supplies, Thanksgiving, Christmas and our summer programs like open center arts & craft supplies and our gardening projects, seeds, tools, fencing, etc. We can't thank them enough, we wouldn't be able to carry out our programs without the collaboration of NRC. Pilamaya "Thank you"

I have worked with NRC for over 3 years now...and it is an amazing non profit organization!!! I operate an after-school program at San Ildefonso Day School, with NRC they have helped my 21st Century program and the Day School tremendously! We have parents and student activities twice a month on topics of reading to your child, learning fun math games as a family, eating healthy, proper hygene and staying fit, all of which NRC has given to keep supporting our enrichment activities for the parents and students. NRC has provided cookbooks for our parents, winter coats to the community that was truely heart felt from our elders and everyone, hygene kits to our students, school supplies, our first time NRC Easter egg hunt that was a BIG hit with the school...thanks for the prizes, sports equiptment, not to mention cleaning supplies to keep our building operating funtionally. My students look foward to seeing that big white truck with "NRC" written on it with Ben or Tony driving in! Within these short years working with NRC there has been a good relationship with the organization and my program. Staff are VERY friendly and helpful and I look forward to our conversations with any of the staff especially Joseph and Ben! You guys are too cool! Thanks for the laugher! I plan to be a big supporter of NRC for years to come...YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the children's joy and excited knowing that there is someone out there that thinks and cares about them!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have them based closer to home! Arizona is just too far! and tooHOT!! (lol) I would not change a thing...but only to give and help NRC get the support and funding they need to continue to reach out and make so many people happy! In this time there are many people who need their spirits lifted up and NRC helps with that! Thank YOU!!!
