Mission: National Relief Charities is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit committed to championing hope for a brighter future for Native Americans living on remote, isolated and impoverished reservations. NRC maintains relations with more than 1,000 reservation partners focused on leading positive change within their tribal communities. A BBB-accredited charity, our mission is: Serving immediate needs. Supporting long-term solutions. Our vision is: Strong, self-sufficient Native American communities.
Results: NRC is known among our reservation partners as a solid, steady resource that provides the right goods – the requested goods – in the right time and right way for tribal communities. We achieve 96% customer satisfaction, providing aid to areas most organizations cannot reach. In addition to delivering essential goods and services, NRC is developing community leaders who can drive social change in their reservation communities. We are also challenging dependency and poverty by involving community members in the delivery of our services--simultaneously enhancing capacity while meeting diverse needs. Each year, 90-95% of our scholarship students complete the college year, and hundreds of thousands of Native Americans welcome relief from day-to-day symptoms of poverty. Our annual report, effectiveness report, partner and participant stories, and press coverage are published on our website at www.nrcprograms.org. Our Charting Impact report is available at http://www.guidestar.org/report/chartingimpact/575773695/national-relief-charities.pdf. Our BBB report is available at http://give.org/charity-reviews/national/human-services/national-relief-charities-in-sherman-tx-627.
Target demographics: NRC provides consistent aid and services for Native Americans with the highest needs in the U.S.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Collaborating with our reservation partners, we improve quality of life for 250,000 Native Americans each year—and yet there is more to do.
Geographic areas served: NRC’s scholarships are offered nationwide to tribally-enrolled Native Americans students. Our long-term solutions and our material goods and services for immediate relief span 60 reservations throughout the Southwest and Northern Plains regions of the U.S.
Programs: NRC cares about quality of life and supports the self-determined goals of the tribes. Our programs (AIEF, ROAR, CIN, AIRC, SNRF, NAA, SWIRC and NRF) span education, animal welfare and Northern Plains and Southwest reservation aid. Specifically, our material services focus on nutrition, health, K-12 education, emergency relief, animal welfare, and holiday needs being addressed by our reservation partners within their tribal communities. Our long-term solutions support higher education, community investment projects, and capacity-building for local leaders and reservation communities. NRC connects outside resources directly to the reservations through our distribution network and reservation partnerships.

As a counselor, I search for organizations that will contribute to my self-help programs. So I can encourage the students to be productive, lifelong learners of their community. National Relied Charities provides incentives that meet the needs of the students in my programs.
National Relief Charities members are compassionate about helping students and adults are self sufficient. Our school has participated in the following programs: Healthy Living, Christmas Stockings, Easter Egg Hunt, and Community Events: (Week-end Back Pack Program), (One World Play Project-Soccer), and School Supplies.
Next Year I am going to apply for the Hug a Bear Program to help children cope with their grief. NRC reaches out to the community and helps make everyone feel special.
Thank-you for being my partner and supporting our self-help programs.

I am so thankful for the scholarship offered through the American Indian Education Foundation under National Relief Charities. The funding I received has helped me reach my goal of getting my bachelor's degree in business administration. Thank you.

We have worked with NRC as a transportation provider and they are a great partner to have. They are always willing to go the extra mile if problems arise to make sure our drivers will get loaded or unloaded in a timely manner. We know that we can rely on NRC for anything and vice-versa. Those relationships are only able to be built when you have good people working at your company. I would work with NRC all the time if it allowed itself.

National Relief Charities has assisted our program tremendously with the many different items for incentives to be given to our clients. I believe without their support we would not be able to make our program a huge success for our clients. The elderly members within our communities live on a fixed income, so most of the items we give to them is considered of grave support. I am very thankful for everything you all provide for our people. Thank you so very much.

We have been partnering with NRC for two years. We participate in their Literacy Program. All staff are professional, caring, and attentive. NRC has helped hundreds of families in our community with household supplies, food items, children's toys, and many other goodies. Our students are always very eager for the next delivery of goodies for our Literacy Program. Our community is a poor community and the help NRC provides us is greatly appreciated.

Winslow Council on Aging is a nonprofit organization in northern Arizona that operates the Active Adult Community Center. For individuals age 60 and older, we provide: Congregate Meals, Home-Delivered Meals, Transportation, Homecare Services, Exercise Classes, Health/Wellness Workshops, Food Bank, Senior Activities, and BINGO.

National Relief Charities has been a valuable partner for six years. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. Through the generous donations of food and incentives that we receive from NRC, we are able to supplement our senior nutrition and health/wellness programs. In addition to the regular donations every other month, NRC has provided us with items to assemble emergency preparedness kits for our vulnerable adults, elder stockings at Christmas, individual Thanksgiving dinners, and incentives for several community events.

National Relief Charities has enhanced our programs and provided many benefits to our participants. We are grateful for our partnership.

Native American students in 4th and 8th grade are one of the lowest scoring reading groups in the United States. Children who receive Speech-language Pathology treatment with literacy goals at an earlier age can be prevented from such delays. While being a program partner with National Relief Charities (NRC), I have been able to supply donated books to both children and adults receiving speech therapy in a hospital clinic. This has allowed for generalization of treatment outcomes from the clinic to the home setting. When offered incentives such as books, patients have increased motivation to return to therapy which positively impacts their treatment outcomes. The experience I have had with NRC is outstanding and I look forward to many more years of this positive partnership. Thank you NRC!

My name is Mechelle Morgan-Flowers and I am the Utilization Review/Discharge Planner for the Tsehootsooi Medical Center (Ft Defiance Indian Hospital) on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. I have been at TMC for 17 years serving the Native Community. My husband is the Nurse Recruiter for the hospital, and we have two children going to the St Michael Indian School in St. Michaels, AZ.

I began working with the NRC program four years ago with our Elder Care Program and our Palliative/Comfort Care Programs. Since that time my volunteer work with NRC has expanded to our Drumming Circles/Yoga Classes/Parent Classes. We have worked with the organization with our community events and conferences which have included the Annual Cancer Conferences and our "Gathering of Healers".

The NRC has worked with bringing supplies to our local schools and has expanded services into our communities.

This organization has been a tremendous help to myself personally as I go into the community to bring about healthy living, and it has also involved our children to "step up" and be volunteers at events. I am so honored to be a volunteer, along with my family, to bring about changes for our underserved population.

I LOVE THIS organization and their mission to help improve our quality of life for our Natives.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you do for our communities. May you walk in beauty always. May you continue your work to help us. May we walk hand in hand to make a difference.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I believe this organization is awesome.... I hope they continue to expand to help more around the country. I would ask for them to expand their services.

Wow words are not enough to share what NRC has done this year to help families in our school. We have had 2 food distributions and every student was gvien a stocking. We are now in the process of setting up a Easter Egg Hunt. Students are still talking about the stockings. I have worked with several people at NRC and each one has been just as helpful and nice as the nest one. With every event that is planned brings new excitement for us at our school. They are very oraganized and open to give a helping hand to families in need. I so look forward to our continure relationship and working together to help those in need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I have only had positive experience with NRC and at this point I do not know of anything that I would change.

Overall my experience I had with NRC they did some good communication. They always kept in touch and reminded me when my reports were going to be due. All the products we recieved were very useful to our families we served and it boosted our parent participation in the program. The parents look forward to the C.U.B.S store especially when we get new shipment.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make none, the way the program is running at the present is good.
