Ms. Burns, in behalf of NRC, I wanted to explain that over 70% of donations go toward program services in Indian country. As we have explained previously on this site, if you ask a caller to flag your account for no contact, that often does not do the trick. The only group with full access to flag your account end to end throughout our database is DONOR RELATIONS: 800-416-8102. For some reason, people do not want to accept this extra step, but it is what will help you get the result that you want. Also, if a caller has told you previously that they were removing you from the list, they probably did flag it in their section of the database – but a caller has limited database access and they should have referred you to Donor Relations as well. We sincerely apologize if that referral did not happen. To resolve this, please take this one last step and call Donor Relations now.

Mr. Haines, we understand that you wish to reduce fundraising calls and mail from our organization. The only way to achieve this is to call our DONOR RELATIONS department: 800-416-8102. With Donor Relations, you may indicate which of our programs you wish to hear from, if any, and how often you would like to be contacted, if at all. As far as Facebook, we only post on our organizational page: www.facebook.com/RememberNativeAmericans. The “volunteers” that post reviews on this site are our Program Partners, which number over 1,000. They volunteer to partner with National Relief Charities and, in turn, receive goods and services to strengthen their communities. It is for them that we exist. It may be helpful to know that Great Nonprofits has a system in place that helps to prevent reviews from parties within the company being rated. We are glad to see this as it prevents people from posting false reviews on the site, whether positive or negative. We hope that you will follow through with a call to Donor Relations so that we can help.

Mr. Mann, I am responding in behalf of National Relief Charities and sincerely empathize with how frustrated you are feeling. We in no way wish to “not honor your requests.” That would in no way help you or our cause. And, we really want to help you get this resolved. I think the heart of the matter centers around this all important question that you raised: “Why can’t the organization have its callers record information that I’ve given multiple times?” The fact is that the caller does record your request – but it doesn’t transmit throughout our entire database because callers have limited security rights. In other words, callers do not have access to all screens in our database, and this is done for donor privacy protection as well as database integrity. Therefore, we ask all donors to contact DONOR RELATIONS for “do not contact” requests: 800-416-8102. It’s a simple step, but one that you must take to ensure that your request is honored. If you ask a caller to flag your account, they record it but it does not carry throughout the system so you may be called again. Donor Relations representatives are there for the sole purpose of helping you. They have full access to the database and, when requested, can ensure that your account is fully flagged throughout our organization. If you think about organizational structure, what it boils down to is this: Only one department is responsible for donor account management and trained to do it, just as only one department is responsible for HR or Accounting or IT. Therefore, to ensure that your request gets recorded organization-wide, please place your request with Donor Relations: 800-416-8102.

Dear AI M, I am writing this in behalf of National Relief Charities and our programs. There are quite a number of Native and Native serving nonprofits and, to be fair, it is quite possible that some of the calls you are receiving are not from us. We find that donors are often confused about this. At the same time, we want to help you in any way we can, but we cannot do it here. The best way is for you to call us at 1-800-416-8102 and let us know specifically which programs you want to be called for and, if you want no calls, let us know that too. If you would like to be in touch by email, please send a message to PR@nrc1.org with your name, address, and phone number where you are receiving the calls. I am writing this comment in behalf of National Relief Charities. We are deeply concerned by your comment. We have over 900,000 donors in our database and while we have processes in place to address each individual donor’s preferences, we have to admit that with so many donors, we do sometimes drop the ball. However, our intention is to satisfy each and every donor and the best people to speak to in these instances are our Donor Relations representatives at 800-416-8102. Also, we want you to know that we take theft very seriously. We do not store donor information in a way that would be accessible to anyone in our organization. Therefore, while we do not suspect the charge on your mother’s account to have come from us, we would be more than happy to investigate it internally in order to assure you that it wasn’t us.
