The National Musum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, New York, is sacred space. The space itslf is beautifully-designed and maintained. The exhibits are fascinating, elegant and important. This is THE only museum dedicated to American Thoroughbred horse racing--the Hall of Fame is akin to the Vatican. It takes a great deal of money to create a venue such as this, and to maintain the high standards set by industry laders, and the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame does it with grace and a keen respect for our past. As Thoroughbred racing moves intothe 21st Century, it will be even-more necessary to educate the public in order to help the sport grow and thrive. The Museum takes this part of their responsibility very seriously. Their programs to educate the public are second-to-none. The artifacts housed in the Museum are sacred in our world of horse racing, and we who participate in the sport happily hand over the artifacts to the historians, curator, operations manager and director of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Our history is in good hands, our future more secure due in large part for their intent focus on education, preservation and the encouragement of forward-thinking models. I laud the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame because it is the place where the greatest Thorughbreds, jockeys, trainers and owners are celebrated. But more than that, I laud the Museum because, for many of us who live and work in the sport of racing Thoroughbreds, and who love the animals and the sport--the Museum is very much our Home.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've been in and around the Racing Musum for over 30 years now. Member, fan and writer. As a writer, I am inspired by the spirits of the great horses who dwell in the hallways: it's not unusual to see me on a bench with my laptop, drinking it in.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing. I refer to the Racing Museum as being "Mecca." It is sacred ground: how do you improve Heaven?

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

* The fact that, whether I'm a Vanderbilt or not--I've always been treated in a friendly, courtesy manner by the staff. * Thoroughbred racing LIVES and breathes here. * The artifacts and historian are second-to-none.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Briliant, insightful, generous, kind, open and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Fulfill its Wish List. I don't know what's on that list, but I trust the administrators of the Museum to wisely make decisiona and institute, build or curate as they think necessary. I'd love to see enough money to fullfill the Wish List.

Ways to make it better...

I could live in the building, and watch the 18-minute film, "Race America" at least once a day.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Negative reviews from embittered journalists.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is a national treasure. The city of Saratoga Springs is blessed to host the facility and its mission. The sport of Thoroughbred horse racing is appropriately honoured within its walls. I am a fan.
