I have watched this crucial organization evolve over the past 15 years into a much more stable, dynamic, and national voice for reason on the economic, social, and good-governance costs of gambling. In the past few years, the group has taken big steps by adding paid employees; growing and balancing its budget; updating its governing documents; and building a dynamic on-line presence. It has also strengthened ties with state and local organizations, built its presence in the national media, and expanded its voice at gambling-related conferences and events across the country. Working in a field whose public messaging is dominated by huge amounts of gambling money, Stop Predatory Gambling (along with its state partners) is nearly alone in publicizing the compelling counter-research essential for sound public policy decision-making.
