Issues: Health, Human Services, Breast Cancer
Location: 2600 Network Blvd STE 300 Frisco TX 75034 USA
Results: NBCF has provided over 340,000 patient services since 2005 through their network of hospitals. With rising healthcare costs, many uninsured or underinsured women cannot afford the cost of diagnostic tests. By providing free mammograms and breast care services to underserved women, NBCF will increase the early detection of breast cancer which will lead to higher survival rates. Facilities within the NMP continue to report that because of grant funding from NBCF, they are able to help women in their areas that did not qualify for state or local funds to access mammography services. Any life that is saved is an example of the success of the program. Based on findings about how breast cancer initiation cells can resist drug treatment, researchers are now developing clinical trials to suppress breast cancer initiation cells. Researchers have found that gene therapy delivered directly to a particularly stubborn type of breast cancer cell caused the cell to self-destruct, lowered the chance of recurrence, and helped increase the effectiveness of some types of chemotherapy.
Target demographics: Underserved and uninsured women
Geographic areas served: Throughout the United States
Programs: National Mammography Program/Patient Services Through the National Mammography Program (NMP), NBCF partners with medical facilities across the country to provide free mammograms and diagnostic breast care services to underserved women. The NMP network includes 88 medical facilities in all 50 states. Through patient navigation programs at medical facilities within their network, NBCF is able to promote early detection procedures to those that need it most. Patient navigation is a proactive approach to helping patients overcome the barriers of cost, fear, and misinformation surrounding a disease and its prevention. Early Detection/Awareness Education NBCF’s Early Detection Plan is an interactive tool available both online and as an iPhone App. The Early Detection Plan reminds women to schedule routine breast self-exams, clinical breast exams, and mammograms. MyNBCF (www.MyNBCF.org) is an online support community that has been described by its members as “an avenue to share, vent, cry and laugh.” The community provides breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones a safe place to discuss breast cancer. Beyond the Shock® is a step-by-step guide to understanding the diagnosis of breast cancer presented in an interactive online website. It allows those affected by breast cancer to learn about breast cancer, ask and answer questions, and hear inspirational stories from breast cancer survivors. The Breast Health Education Program is a new program launched in 2012 that provides breast cancer education and early detection services to women at community outreaches across the country. NBCF educates women about the importance of early detection and informs them about resources that are available in their community. Women are given the opportunity to receive free clinical breast exams from nurse practitioners. Breast Cancer Research NBCF strives to help find the cure for breast cancer by working with some of the finest scientists in the world. Funding is provided to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Cleveland Clinic, and Worldwide Innovative Networking for research efforts focused on targeted therapy for breast cancer initiating cells, therapeutic and preventative drugs for breast cancer, and the first clinical trial offering a choice of therapy guided by the biology to the majority of patients included in the study. Their goals are to identify and personalize cancer treatment to offer hope and healing to the countless women diagnosed each year.

Women are the largest users of our SABRE personal safety products. Since we’ve received tremendous support for our brand for four decades, we believe in giving back and helping others. The National Breast Cancer Foundation was very highly ranked and regarded. We learned that a greater percentage of our donations would be used to help fight breast cancer than the other charities we researched. We appreciate our partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation because this year-round fundraising effort supports cornerstones of both organizations: empowering women to protect themselves by giving them the necessary tools and education.
NBCF is a great company to work with and we look forward to working with them again next year!
Our university's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk supports various charities. We have been working with NBCF for many years. The organization holds a 4-star rating and serves to educate as well as provide free mammograms to under-served populations. The staff is wonderful to work with and eager to supply us with educational materials and give-a-ways for our students. It's a win-win relationship.
We have been working with NBCF for several years now. We are a large college and we fund raise for NBCF every October. They have been an absolute joy to work with and are quick to send us any supplies that we may need to make the fundraiser fun! They are also great about getting us supplies for Breast Cancer Awareness.
This year was my 3rd year of hosting a fundraiser benefiting NBCF and like every year, it was a success! NBCF staff is incredibly helpful and supportive. I look forward to benefiting them for many years to come!
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is such a great organization! This is our 2nd year hosting a donation and 1 Mile Breast Cancer Awareness Walk around campus. We really enjoy the help of the volunteers and employees of the NBCF and will look forward to raising money for this great organization again in the future.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a great non-profit organization that uses their resources to research early detection and also works to find a cure for breast cancer. I had the pleasure of working with them when my school did a fundraiser during our fall sport senior night. During the whole process, they communicated with me, sent me resources, and answered any questions I had concerning how to make our night more successful. It was an honor to work with this organization.

We are apart of a large youth lacrosse program in Frisco, TX and we always raise money for breast cancer awareness. Our program has always felt that it was important to teach our young boys and girls the importance of giving back to others and this is our big fundraiser in the fall season. We were thrilled to learn that NBCF is right here in Frisco, TX and that the money donated could go to directly help others. NBCF is extremely professional and yet keep a sense of personal touch to their correspondences. We have donated to NBCF for the past few years and will continue to donate to their organization as they make you feel good for what you are doing and no domination is too little and everything you do is appreciated. Thank you NBCF for your wonderful organization!
We had a great time doing a fund raising with NBCF. As a restaurant, we gave $1/glass of wine we sold so our guest were happy to buy wine for a good cause.
Working with NBCF has been a great pleasure and very easy. We recommend anyone who can help to do it with them

2014 is the first year I organized a fundraiser benefiting the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
I wanted to find a way to remember my mom and find a way to help others fight breast cancer.
I chose NBCF because of their mission to provide education, early detection through free mammograms, and support to under-served women who might not have access to healthcare.
In addition, they have a high rating on Charity Navigator and I found that they give ~.85 cents of every dollar donated to the cause. This is much higher than many organizations I looked at.
During the planning process Lauren, from the fundraising team, was very helpful and responded to my questions quickly with helpful recommendations. The fundraising manual was very helpful as well.
This year was a learning experience but my experience was made smoother working with NBCF.
We plan to repeat our 'Que for the Cause every year and continue to donate the proceeds to NBCF.
