Results: NBCF has provided over 340,000 patient services since 2005 through their network of hospitals. With rising healthcare costs, many uninsured or underinsured women cannot afford the cost of diagnostic tests. By providing free mammograms and breast care services to underserved women, NBCF will increase the early detection of breast cancer which will lead to higher survival rates. Facilities within the NMP continue to report that because of grant funding from NBCF, they are able to help women in their areas that did not qualify for state or local funds to access mammography services. Any life that is saved is an example of the success of the program. Based on findings about how breast cancer initiation cells can resist drug treatment, researchers are now developing clinical trials to suppress breast cancer initiation cells. Researchers have found that gene therapy delivered directly to a particularly stubborn type of breast cancer cell caused the cell to self-destruct, lowered the chance of recurrence, and helped increase the effectiveness of some types of chemotherapy.
Target demographics: Underserved and uninsured women
Geographic areas served: Throughout the United States
Programs: National Mammography Program/Patient Services Through the National Mammography Program (NMP), NBCF partners with medical facilities across the country to provide free mammograms and diagnostic breast care services to underserved women. The NMP network includes 88 medical facilities in all 50 states. Through patient navigation programs at medical facilities within their network, NBCF is able to promote early detection procedures to those that need it most. Patient navigation is a proactive approach to helping patients overcome the barriers of cost, fear, and misinformation surrounding a disease and its prevention. Early Detection/Awareness Education NBCF’s Early Detection Plan is an interactive tool available both online and as an iPhone App. The Early Detection Plan reminds women to schedule routine breast self-exams, clinical breast exams, and mammograms. MyNBCF (www.MyNBCF.org) is an online support community that has been described by its members as “an avenue to share, vent, cry and laugh.” The community provides breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones a safe place to discuss breast cancer. Beyond the Shock® is a step-by-step guide to understanding the diagnosis of breast cancer presented in an interactive online website. It allows those affected by breast cancer to learn about breast cancer, ask and answer questions, and hear inspirational stories from breast cancer survivors. The Breast Health Education Program is a new program launched in 2012 that provides breast cancer education and early detection services to women at community outreaches across the country. NBCF educates women about the importance of early detection and informs them about resources that are available in their community. Women are given the opportunity to receive free clinical breast exams from nurse practitioners. Breast Cancer Research NBCF strives to help find the cure for breast cancer by working with some of the finest scientists in the world. Funding is provided to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Cleveland Clinic, and Worldwide Innovative Networking for research efforts focused on targeted therapy for breast cancer initiating cells, therapeutic and preventative drugs for breast cancer, and the first clinical trial offering a choice of therapy guided by the biology to the majority of patients included in the study. Their goals are to identify and personalize cancer treatment to offer hope and healing to the countless women diagnosed each year.

NBCF is a great company to work with and we look forward to working with them again next year!
Our university's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk supports various charities. We have been working with NBCF for many years. The organization holds a 4-star rating and serves to educate as well as provide free mammograms to under-served populations. The staff is wonderful to work with and eager to supply us with educational materials and give-a-ways for our students. It's a win-win relationship.
We have been working with NBCF for several years now. We are a large college and we fund raise for NBCF every October. They have been an absolute joy to work with and are quick to send us any supplies that we may need to make the fundraiser fun! They are also great about getting us supplies for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Oromill Lumber held a fundraiser back in October for the NBCF and it far exceeded our vision. We started planning this event in July and invited small business, schools, the public and dignitaries from our city to attend. We held our event on a Saturday and entertained, fed and raised money with raffles, baked goods, great food, live music, a classic car show, a kids zone and were amazed by the people that donated, participated and attended. Most donors had a connection with breast cancer. Either they knew someone who had passed, fought, or is fighting breast cancer. We raised almost $10,000.00 for the NBCF in just 3 months. We look forward to promoting, informing and raising money for the NBCF next year!! Thank you NBCF for allowing Oromill Lumber to help take a bite out of cancer!!!
This year was my 3rd year of hosting a fundraiser benefiting NBCF and like every year, it was a success! NBCF staff is incredibly helpful and supportive. I look forward to benefiting them for many years to come!
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is such a great organization! This is our 2nd year hosting a donation and 1 Mile Breast Cancer Awareness Walk around campus. We really enjoy the help of the volunteers and employees of the NBCF and will look forward to raising money for this great organization again in the future.
Thank you for hosting our donation page. Lauren and Michelle...YOU ROCK! The process was so easy and you were always there to help with any questions. We had an amazing turnout this year and raised almost $1000 more than last year. It couldn't have been possible without your support of our fundraiser.
I recently heard that one of my high-school friends died from stage four breast cancer. She was not aware she had it until it was too late. Also, members of my church has experience a lost in their family due to breast cancer and we have had members who experience a love one - going thru. Breast Cancer Foundation Company is an opportunity for all to survive this dreadful disease. Greer Chapel United Methodist Church is honored to be a blessing to others. Our ministry enjoy reaching out because we won't know if we would be next person to experience the pain and agony of cancer, but it is a tremendous blessing knowing how we can stop it from progressing. We thank the Lord Jesus for giving us the gift of love through sharing, loving, and appreciating each other.

Thank you NBCF, Inc. for hosting our donation page. This is a fantastic organization, and we at J.D. Byrider (Savannah, GA and Columbus, GA) are thankful and happy to support such a great cause. I highly recommend NBCF, Inc. to anyone interested in creating a donation event, drive, etc.
The 2 ladies from the NBCF who I stayed in contact with throughout the course of my fundraiser were extremely warm and courteous. Excellent people to work with, while working for an excellent cause!
