I am so very, very proud to receive comments such as, “The recording is excellent, best I have heard. I think only a very few actual CW era bands were anywhere near the Federal City band in musicianship or in music arrangements. You have set a new standard... a wonderful legacy and historical treat…”from colleagues in the field, “I was blown away with the concert last Sunday. It was beautifully constructed, played, and SO realistic. The compositions were very intriguing to me (and) the mellow tone of these early instruments was so moving...” from an audience member, or, “your performances were stunning – absolutely beautiful and exactly the right tone we wanted to set for the day,” from an event organizer, and to know that I helped make that experience possible. That’s why I have devoted so many thousands of hours of my volunteer time to the National Association for Civil War Brass Music over the past few years. But we should not still be relying on the kindness of volunteers, not when the interest in this incredible history and music is so great and we are at such a significant moment with the sesquicentennial of the Civil War (1861-65) now upon us (2011-15)! This organization is worthy of much wider recognition and much greater support for the great work it does, reaching thousands of audience members each year through concert performances, living history demonstrations, educational programs, and more by the Federal City Brass Band and 26th NC Regimental Band as well as helping to train dozens of aspiring fifers, buglers and drummers through the National Civil War Field Music School. This is important American music that needs to be heard and the stories of the music and musicians need to be told, and no one does it better than the National Association for Civil War Brass Music!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the outstanding quality of the music and the visual presentation, and the opportunity to work with others who share my interest in Civil War brass bands and are willing to devote their time and energy to bring this music to life.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
top-notch. The musicians and leaders of the organization really know their information and they are very generous in sharing that with audiences and colleagues.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
WOW! It could take this music all around the country, reaching thousands more people, helping groups and localities commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. It could finally provide some compensation to its artistic & administrative leadership.
