I am so proud to be a part of such a community driven organization. We touch so many children and their families through our philanthropic programs. The volunteers in our organization are the hardest working folks I have ever worked with.

I have been working for this wonderful volunteer organization for nearly three years. Every day we feed 4000 school children and clothe over 2000 school children annually. We mentor first time teen offenders through our Teen Court Program and awarded $30,000 in scholarships last year. Our funds come from the sales in our highly successful Assistance League Thrift Shop, grant awards and donations. We have only one paid employee so our return to the community is truly exceptional. I am proud to work alongside the more than 150 dedicated and caring volunteer members. We make a difference in our community everyday by filling the needs of children who might otherwise go hungry, not attend school or become crime statistics. My charity of choice is most definitely Assistance League of Charlotte!

Assistance League of Charlotte has been making great strides in it's effort to better serve the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. We are set to close on our own building very soon, a sign of real progress and growth as we enter our 21st year of existence!

I have been a member of Assistance League for almost nine years, and wouldn't exchange this experience for anything! We feed, clothe, mentor and educate through our community-based philanthropic programs. We really do make a difference every day. Seeing the gratitude in the eyes of a child lets me know it is all worthwhile. If you want to make a difference in our community and make great friends at the same time, this is the organization for you!

I have been a member of Assistance League of Charlotte since 1999. Volunteering with this organization is just about the best thing I have ever done. I have made some wonderful friends and helped some terrific children in Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

As a Board Member/Volunteer of Assistance League of Charlotte, and a very active volunteer within the Charlotte community all my adult life, I can honestly say this is a group of dedicated volunteers unlike any group or organization I have encountered. before. They work hard, they are frugal with their funds and their hearts are in the right place. Does Assistance League of Charlotte change lives? You bet we do. We clothe children in uniforms and warm winter coats so they can fit into their school classes, We fill hungry bellies with nutritious snacks so they can concentrate on their studies. We turn lives around by giving a teen a second chance to right a wrong. We give scholarships to deserving students so college becomes a reality. We waste nothing as we reach out to other organizations in our Outreach program. I tell each and every person who will slow down long enough to listen about Assistance League of Charlotte, what we do, why we do it and how they can help.

Assistance League of Charlotte volunteers are a group of hard-working people with the biggest hearts in the city. I was first drawn to them through a newspaper article about their program, Operation Check Hunger. In this day and age, children shouldn't go hungry, and here was this organization making sure they didn't. Daily during the school year, Assistance League of Charlotte provides snacks to send home with thousands of children so they can attend to their studies without an empty tummy. WOW! I wanted to be a part of that group. While that is the program that drew me to Assistance League, I met with them and was taken aback with their other programs. Many, many hours go into support of Operation School Bell, Operation Check Hunger, Mecklenburg County Teen Court, Scholarships, Outreach and into running the Thrift Store which is the primary source of funding for the programs. While working hard, volunteers have fun yet never lose focus of the goals of feeding, clothing, mentoring and educating at risk children and their families in the community.

The Assistance League of Charlotte is an important, and well-run,asset to our community. These volunteers provide clothing in the form of school uniforms and coats, shoes, underwear, and tolietries to thousands of our community's most needy students. These ladies order, sort and deliver daily snacks to dozens of schools and serve thousands of economically challenged in this small way to help them get through their school day without an empty stomach. The Thrift Shop that the Assistance League runs is not only beautiful but so efficent. It serves as their primary source of funds - but through their well priced items, repair and press job on clothing, and complete inspection and repair on household items, and furniture offerings - the Assistance League Thrift Shop is an important shopping haven for many of our city's residents to make ends meet. The Teen Court program is unique both to our County and the only one of it's kind for an Assistance League in the US. This program has made a difference in changing the lifes of teens - not just a way to get them out of the court experience. In addition it had saved the court system so much time and money! The Assistance League of Charlotte NC is a true gem in our community for the one of a kind work they do!

The Assistance League is an amazing consortium of women who have taken the time to gather and empower women and children who are less fortunate. Growing up, I was a latch-key kid in Harlem, NYC. My mom became a single mom through divorce and struggled to raise my brother and I. I remember my grandmother borrowing a cup of milk from the neighbors one day so that I could have something in my stomach for school. It may not have been the Assistance league that helped me and my family in NYC, but it was through the efforts of people like them that I was able to become what I have become. I was mentored, clothed and fed by folks like these and their work is changing lives at the speed of which i am sure they have no idea. If they could see into the future they would be able to see what a difference they are making. this is an amazing group and its why I sit on the board of advisors.

Seeing in children's eyes what I once felt in my own eyes... Desperation; with a small glimmer of hope given to me by people like these.

I have seen the work that this organization does by the enthousiasm that its volunteers show and the time that they put in to their work. I am delighted to be part of an organization that gives so much to children and families in our community. Operation School Bell does a wonderful of giving clothing to school children. The AL thrift shop provides another opportunity for families to find items that they may need. I am a new board member but I joined the board because I want to be able to help this wonderful organization continue its fine work in this community.

It has been an eye-opening experience for me to sit on the Board of Advisors for the Assistance League of Charlotte for the past four years. The incredible dedication of the staff, volunteers and Board members is a clear mark of an organization that is well-managed, well-organized and committed to its mission. The thousands of children and adults who are provided with everything from school clothes to applicances and furniture to clothing is amazing. The caring, thoughtful people involved with the Assistance League who give of their time and talents to help others is heartwarming and it the League is considered to be one of Charlotte's brightest help organizations.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Attending Board of Advisors meetings and watched with awe as volunteer-after-volunteer stepped forward to give hours of labor to clean the warehouse, help fit children with school clothing, provide necessities for those in dire need.
