The staff of My Fathers House are amazing. They care about the whole person and the long-term success of their residents to gain and keep independent living. Volunteering in a place that is helping people overcome the root issues that brought them to the doors of this shelter is very rewarding because I know they leave with tools and skills that will strengthen them throughout their lives. Classes like "Ready to Rent", "Financial Freedom", "The Genesis Process" and parenting skills are just a few ways they grow while staying at this shelter. I personally love being a support to the staff in a few of these classes, and I enjoy getting to know the families who are genuinely grateful to find a place that helps them change from the inside out.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

serving in numerous ways that barely compare to the ongoing serving of the staff.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide full time grant writers/donor developers besides the staff who have full time duties on top of doing this vital work.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the growth of the individuals that seek their help.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

some of the best I have ever spent time working alongside

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand to provide secondary longer apartment housing for those who finish this short term shelter but need continued support in a low income housing scenario where they stay connected to this team that has developed a relationship with the family.

Ways to make it better...

I could give more time, but I take the pleasure God gives me in the hours I am able to be there.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding for more staff. The staff work very hard and some live on site which really is round-the-clock many days even if it is supposed to be set hours. They volunteer on top of working every day.

One thing I'd also say is that...

any time put into volunteering here is rewarding, I wish I had $10,000,000 dollars to hand them now because I know it would be money well used.

I remember the small kids couldn't ride the bikes, so I took out a HUGE bubble wand and started blowing bubbles. They were giggling and pretty soon the big kids wanted to play, then parents got done with their class and we were all outside blowing bubble and seeing who's bubble could fly the furthest.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way they encourage people to get back on their feet.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

laughing and giggling with the kids

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very nice, sweet, loving, caring, and most importantly Christ-centered.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help a lot of people.

Ways to make it better...

there were more kids to giggle with and if i would have volunteered more.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding and getting support from people in their community.

One thing I'd also say is that...

MY FATHER'S HOUSE ROCKS!!! And the mission of serving families in a Christ-centered way is AMAZING!!!!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
