I am so honored to be part of the Board of Directors for this non-profit organization. There is no other like MCL. Although there are other after- school programs throughout the Inland Empire, MCL stands above the rest.
MCL offers the highest quality of music and art enrichment through
after-school mentorship programs. It not only provides a safe environment for our at-risk youth to go year round, it engages their interests covering all phases of recording and music. Plus the arts curriculum offers training in creative writing, ceramics, drawing, fashion design and more.
Each student in the program is required to maintain a 2.5 GPA or more which engages them to remain in school. Tutoring is provided if they fall below. School Progress reports are required to allow the program to monitor the student's progress. No student is turned away regardless of their inability to pay. MCL directly attacks the dropout rate and incorporates community volunteers in the process.
The program is not solely dependent on governmental or other one time fundings. MCL is currently housed in the Redlands Community Center and is scheduled in 2011 to provide services in Moreno Valley and Perris.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We work closely with the CEO/President in promoting the program. We see the murals at the Center painted by the students, we hear their CD albums, recorded by the youth, we participate in their events such as Lights after School and the Art Exhibits.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make it available in every city.
