MAPS is doing astonishing work. They are navigating exceedingly difficult waters of politics and public perception to bring an unquestionable legitimacy to the research into the benefits of the little-understood and much maligned group of substances known as psychedelics.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

reading about their triumphs in their publications and in the press.

In my mind, MAPS is about patience, perseverance and progress. They have helped release research into psychedelic medicine from a quagmire of red-tape and raised eyebrows by making it possible to again study how psychedelics can be used therapeutically where conventional treatments have failed. Decades of scientific research into psychedelic medicine have been lost. The years to come look far more promising, thanks to this indefatigable group. And, on a personal note, Valerie Mojeiko of MAPS went to extraordinary lengths to make sure I got a book I wanted. Thanks again Valerie.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Interest in psychedelic medicine has increased exponentially over the past few years, and press coverage along with it, with rational enquiry replacing reflex hysteria.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Promote it more heavily in Canada; I believe many Canadians would support rationalizing our antediluvian drug policy.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Playing a small part towards reaching an important goal--the rational use of psychedelic agents as medicine.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Patient, devoted, tireless.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Perhaps help even more researchers with funding and manoeuvring around regulatory roadblocks.

Ways to make it better...

Their website had not lost my book order; but then I would not have had the benefit of Valerie Mojeiko's intervention, which was above and beyond the call of duty.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finding the energy to keep dancing around regulatory ambushes by governments.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Your doggedness is an inspiration!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year

MAPS is continuing to help shine the light of scientific research on psychedelics. After decades of of governmental clampdown, MAPS has thoughtfully and systematically pursued promoting and funding important research about human consciousness and its alteration by certain substances.

As a specialist in public health, I see many opportunities for using psychedelic substances in a medical context. It can be useful for many pathologies for a low cost and very interresting results. But we have it is important to be careful about the way we chose to introduce these powerful drugs in psychotherapy.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

optimism, hardworking, enthusiasm, rigour

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

pleasant to be with, fun and serious.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

start a complete clinical study to launch an efficient and innovative drug & treatment on the market.

Ways to make it better...

I lived in USA.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Government, policy & law, medias, wrong ideas, stereotypes

One thing I'd also say is that...

Psychedelic treatment is a new and innovative form of treatment which use drugs which are not used yet as a medicine (contrarily to the other types of psychoactive drugs).

MAPS is perhaps one of the bravest and most determined non-profit organizations that I've ever come across. They realize that there is real medical and psychological value to the controlled use of psychedelics, and they work hard to let people know about it. Not only are they healing people in their clinical trials, they are also fighting a pernicious stigma every step of the way. MAPS deserves your support for the betterment of the individual patient and for the betterment of society as a whole.

I attended an all day workshop titled, "Neurophysiology of Psychedelics". The workshop was just excellent. They had the best people in their fields. I was really impressed with who came.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get them enough money to have a somewhat better venue for conferences.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their educational efforts.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

unobtrusive to the point they were hardly noticed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do world class work funding research.

Ways to make it better...

The venue was a bit higher end. But it was ok. They did the best they could with very little.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

monetary.

One thing I'd also say is that...

what MAPS is doing is very important. They had the courage to stand up and re-engage this research area. They have a good balance, promoting proper uses and acknowledging issues.

A non- profit pharmaceutical company? That sounds like the best way to see the future. And medicinal research that could be of not only of assistance but provide full recovery with little to no side effects. This organization wants to change the world in leaps and bounds. PTSD is a serious disorder that effects countless veterans, victims of assault & violence, or becoming traumatized by other varieties of harm. Their studies have proven safety and efficiency for a medication that other companies ignored because it would not be of profit (patent expiration). Healing for the sake of helping, not greed, is the path I hope the world is now on.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My hope for the entire health and health care of this country. A non- profit organization designed to health research for the sake of humanity, not profit. I was able to meet the founder and some of their team. Impressed by their wisdom.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I don't usually use the word psychedelic, since all foods and medicines affect the mind and body. However, I respect their choices for research projects. I see them as very insightful pioneers of the trend for "better than good" health care.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The knowledge, wisdom, and healing. Hope in a better future where healers are not interested in money instead of growth/ acquiring wisdom.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazing! Some of the greatest experiences of a lifetime.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Start and expand effective research treatments for many ill and recovering patients. Raise awareness and volunteers. Help foundation get backing to put these into legislation. Give freedom to choose what kind of drug company you support.

Ways to make it better...

I had more energy to put into this foundation (I support as many as I can).

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Greed- the corporate drug and "health" care. Inertia- the changing of the path we are on from each individual to the legislators.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am so glad they are doing the work they do, and happy to support it as much as I can. I think it has and will make an enormous difference in this world for the better!

MAPS has helped to fund research and education about psychedelics and made possible pilot treatments for PTSD, cancer patients' end of life anxiety which other methods of treatment are fail considerably. To pick-up and expand on our knowledge of psychedelics and their therapeutic effects this charity is one charity that is indispensable and unique. Hope that it will be cherished in the future for its pioneer research.

I've always been interested in alternative ways to raise people's consciousness as well as being able to heal them through psychedelic modalities. The work that was started years ago in the psychedelic field, has now reached a new plateau with MAPS. Rick and company have expertly and responsibly paved the way to opening new vistas through the continuing research, medical applications, and awareness of psychedelics.

The Great!
