Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies

Having worked closely with MAPS on a couple occasions, I am continually surprised by how dedicated, courageous, and skillful this organization is. No other organization that I know of has been as successful overcoming systemic bias to introduce wonderful therapies to a growing mainstream audience. They have done a commendable job at pooling their resources to assist researchers conducting studies that, in my opinion, are essential to the future of psychiatry. No other nonprofit that I know of has been so willing to defy societal taboos for what they believe is right. As an attendee of their recent conference, I must say that MAPS exceeded my highest expectations in every way imaginable.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have spoken to some of the researchers and subjects involved in the psychedelic studies being conducted, and every one of them conveyed an experience of tremendous self improvement via participation in the studies MAPS made possible.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Provide them with more funding so they could more easily carry out their wonderful research.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The atmosphere of safe discovery and free communication they created at their conference.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
They held rank ranging from the founder/president of MAPS down to first time volunteers such as myself, and everyone was treated graciously with respect. The MAPS staff is kind and approachable.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Greenlight research studies to compile enough clinical data to allow qualified therapists to use psychedelic drugs in carefully controlled environments, providing profound experiential therapies for people to overcome their darkest inner demons.
Ways to make it better...
The conference had lasted longer.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The ignorant, anachronistic legal obstacles that prevent the crucial research they facilitate from being carried out.
One thing I'd also say is that...
MAPS is perhaps the happiest underdog I've ever interacted with. Despite the vicious prejudice against their work, they remain optimistic, skillful, and tenacious. And they do wonderful work.

MAPS is an organization that is helping scientists further the research into the potential uses of psychedelic compounds for the benefit of humanity. These misunderstood chemicals have such great potential but a greatly disparaged view by industrialized society. MAPS will be a leader in the progress of scientific research into the biology, effects, and use of psychedelics.
