MAM has helped me to feel that I am not alone in the challenge, extra challenge of trying to be a effective parent while dealing with this disease. Sharing our experiences lets me know I am not alone and there are people who understand what I am going thru, what my children maybe going thru. We have networked with general information tha6t is relevant and important. I am truly grateful for the support we can give each other as well

My mom is apart of the MS-MAMS support group. I was really happy to hear she found a group of women she can relate to as far as being a working mother with an auto-immune disease. I really think that it helped her accept her disease and she met a long of life long friends that all have MS in common as well as being a mother, working full time, etc. By having this support group I feel that it brought awareness about the disease to our families and friends and just in the community in general. MS-MAMS is actively involved in the annual MS walk at Blossom Music Center in April raising funds to help contribute to the MS community. They have monthly meetings to get together and just talk and share stories about their personal battles with MS, their medications, and just to be there for each other. They have parties and bring family members, to share the involvement in the group with food, gift exchanges, and just to have fun. At Christmas time they wrap presents at Summit Mall and during the year they have secret sisters, where they send little gifts or cards to each other. I am so blessed my mother found her support group and they are always working to expand it and bring awareness in the community about MS. Natalie Frammartino

I just want to say how much the MS-MAM group has meant to me. When first diagnosed, you feel so alone and scared. The moms that I met through MS-MAMS helped get through that. You can always go to them for support or even just a hug. You feel automatically welcome by everyone. We all have a story. We are all different with our MS, but yet we all have so much in common. I feel like they are truly like an extended family of sisters. This has been invaluable to me. Sue Frammartino

This beautiful organization not only serves mothers who have MS but serves the greater community. Strengthening family values, serving the least of thee, ofering words of encouragement, working with students in the Akron Public schools, partnering with a local church are all but a few of the great things this non-profit does.

They were able to help 3 of my families. 2 of the 3 families helped, the mom is still volunteering and helping make our school a better place with parent involvement

My name is Miahara White and I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in March 2004. I was devastated and felt inadequate. I felt that my life was over. It took me years even while going to MS meetings for me to start dealing with and accepting my illness. If my husband was not able to keep our children due to work, I couldn't go to my meetings because children were not allowed. I learned about MAM-MS in 2007. When I informed I could bring my children I was exstatic. I learned from the women there that they shared the same concerns as I did, such as, when I was tired and had to help with homework, when my body hurt and I couldn't get out of bed but I needed to get my youngest child ready for school, or if I couldn't go to my oldrest daughters track meet, etc. I found that I wasn't alone and was given suggestions and support. It took me awhile to become active in MAM but now that I am, I want to help other women know that we exist and that they are not alone. Our concerns are not just about us but our children also. Teaching them and making them aware of this chronic illness by including them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I;ve been apart of meeting, support, giving information about MAM-MS, friendships, school supplies, clothes, MS walk (my first walk was this year), fundraisers, receiving information, etc.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

This is the first time in my life I've been apart of something so big and being included offerin suggestions at meetings. I'm not sure what changes at this time I could suggest.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have been involved in giving out information about MAM-MS, helping pass out school supplies, fundraising, meetings, gift wrapping at the mall, support, etc.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I've met other mothers with children, church volunteers, and many others.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

We would be known and have offices all over the world. Ability to help people and there children know and learn about this disease. Help other programs that are in need, such as but not limited to, womens shelters.

Ways to make it better...

Not sure yet.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Trying to inform people we exist and what we do.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I greatful to be apart of this movement in the making.

I have been a wittness as to how much MAM has helped women with MS. There are MAM supporters who donate new shoes and clothing for children and women that are given away to those in need. I have been at MAM headquarters when the phone calls come into the founder of this charity asking for various kinds of help and assistance and I have wittnessed the gentle response and the expediency with which help is given. I have also attended the Fund Raisers and seen the out pouring of love and support there of strangers eager to help the MAM cause.

DO A WEEKLY OR MONTHLY Newsletter. This Newletter in the past has given hope and encouragement to many mothers with MS. Unless you have been stricken by this disease you have NO IDEA the devastation, despair and saddness it brings.
