What makes Momentum Tutoring (MT) different is their caring attitude toward each student. Terri Bozhor and her talented staff care and it shows; when one little girl was too sick to go to school but wanted to go to tutoring. It is human nature to response to others that care about you.

MT carefully screens every tutor they hire. Most tutors are highly motivated high school and college students in the top of their class with sparkling personalities. These are happy and patient people who are fun to be around. MT is dedicated to make “learning” a fun experience that will last a lifetime.

Momentum Tutoring’s curriculum is customized for each pupil. The senior staff assigns the appropriate tutor depending on age and expertise required. MT has several talented college math majors on staff so whether it is calculus or remedial reading they have motivated tutors to meet the pupils need.

The student’s safety is a top priority at MT. Initially all our centers were offered in classrooms of four existing Santee schools. With the passage of the school bonds in 2007 no classrooms were available for 2008. MT then established their present learning center across the street from Rio Seco School. For the past two years, they have had after school classes at Carlton Oaks School and next year hope to have several more schools involved that will be convenient for the parent’s pick-up. The school has all the parent phone numbers so no child is ever released without a recognizable pick-up.

MT is an association of Tutors certified by the State of California and the IRS as a Non-Profit charitable association. Therefore the costs are 25-50% lower than the “For Profit” Learning Centers. Public contributions are converted into scholarships for needy students. MT has a unique “pay what you can” policy that has worked out very well for some students.

As a Non-Profit, MT is governed by a volunteer elected Board of Directors as required by law. The board is made up of lay professionals, certified teachers, PTA member, legal representative, tutors, and a Certified Public accountant. These generous board members donate their time and services to make sure the students are safe, have a customized curriculum, select the most talented tutors and the most affordable plan available.

Most individuals can remember the time in their life when the “light came on” and they gained confidence. Momentum Tutoring is dedicated to “turning on” that confidence for every student.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Parent testimony at a Board meeting of the changes Momentum has made it their child's life. These parents docmented the improved grades and confidence their child had made. I was moved by one parent who was crying about how Momentum saved her child and thought to myself we need to reach more of these children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Encourage donations to this Non-Profit so we could afford to offer more scholarships and help more children.

I have been working with Momentum Tutoring for 5 years now. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this job, and have been extremely grateful ever since.. Momentum has provided me with a stable job while continuing in my higher education. I always knew I wanted to work with students, but it was working at Momentum that made me sure. I am truly inspired by the help we provide to families in need. Education should not be costly, and we are able to make that happen. Everyday, I am proud of our fellow tutors, our amazing students, and our wonderful and supportive families. This job makes me proud of the work I do and the program that I am a part of. Everyday we hear new success stories that show the result of our tutors' and students' hard work. I have worked here for my entire working life, and I look forward to helping Momentum grow in our community.

Momentum Tutoring is my dream come true! I have an intense passion for helping others see how awesome they are. I love "Ahha" moments when suddenly someone just gets it. I love providing those moments. Finding just the right tutor for just what a client needs is one of my greatest joys. Making Momentum what it is today has been an incredible journey full of ups and downs. So many times I wanted to just quit. Direct my efforts towards something with less stress and liability, more income and stability. I have persevered through the seemingly impossible because of the students, their families and the tutors. I have seen the impact Momentum has on people and I know as a student, teacher, and parent ... Momentum fills a gap. Every community needs a YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and MOMENTUM TUTORING. Please help us make convenient and effective tutoring a community staple, available to anyone who wants to learn.
