The Military Child Education Coalition is a wonderful organization that goes above and beyond to ensure each military child is provided with the best education and the upmost support from their parents, educators, and community members. I was a military child and had the opportunity of moving 12 times before college. The people of MCEC provided my family with warm welcomes and encouraging goodbyes as we moved around the world. Military children most importantly want to feel connected and a part of a community. MCEC programs provide military children with caring people and positive experiences that turn their new environments into homes. The programs of MCEC inspired me to care, guide, and mentor children, so I became a teacher. I am currently getting my Master’s degree at Texas A&M University in Reading. I love volunteering for MCEC by combining my own education and experiences together to help the new generation of military children.

I have purchased the "Working With Military Children (For School professionals)" book which I find fantastic. I'm currently in my last year in a Masters program, where I'm studying School Counseling. My goal is to become a school guidance counselor, and to also be a resource especially for military children since I'm a veteran as well. I have spoken about this book to the school I'm interning at and also have brought it into college to conduct presentations, since it pertains to my field of study. Not many people know about this information and just wanted to say, I will always have this in my office when I graduate and become a guidance counselor. I'm also more than welcome to help get the word out by having a link to MCEC at Transitioning Veteran.com and also by sharing it with my, over 2000 fans on facebook. Keep up the great work and look forward to new information to share with others in the field. -Steve

MCEC is an amazing organization. My husband and I were both raised in the military with fathers who each served 30+ years. Our parents didn't have an organization like this fighting for positive changes and educating them on how to be our best advocates as we moved from duty station to duty staion. Keep in mind, we weren't dealing with multiple deployments on top of everything else either. Our military members and their spouses "volunteer" for this lifestyle. However, in essence, our children are "drafted". With multiple deployments and numerous moves, our children face different challenges compared to their civilian couterparts. MCEC tries to level the playing field for our kids. Thanks MCEC for making a difference to those who serve on the homefront!

4 years ago, I became involved with MCEC through their tell me a story events. Since then, I began to work with them. I now work with them helping military families learn the skilled needed to advocate for their child's education. An amazing group of people dedicated to military families, education, and resiliency. MCEC makes a huge difference in the lives of military children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The positive effect it has had on how my children transition in schools, how I parent. The workshops and institutes make military and military connected parents proactive in their child's education.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

making a difference for military parents.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, smart, educated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

positively change the way military children are affected by deployment, school transitions and change in their lives.

I began attending the workshops offered by MCEC ten years ago when I was a high school counselor. My entire attitude towards how my counseling program could better serve both military and civilian students changed for the better. The trainings are always based on recent research. The materials trainees are given are high qualtiy and current. The yearly conferences bring together a cross section of Amercia. MCEC is a first class operation.

One of the great things about the MCEC is the trainings done all over the world. I was in their recent TCI training. I feel like the training helped me understand the military-connected children population and the unique challenges they face - but more, I understand how to support them and encourage them through their transitions. Thanks, MCEC!
