Since our inception in 2001, we have employed local artists to aid us in that goal. Our priority is to achieve gender parity in the theatrical arts, striving to promote the work and provide opportunities to playwrights, actors, designers, directors and crew members who are local artists, with a focus on women (not excluding the men) in new works never seen in Houston. Our primary contribution to this goal is offering Houston audiences innovative theatrical works unavailable anywhere else. We strive to make each production a unique experience, both in the creative execution and the choice of material.

Having worked with company members Lyndsay Sweeney and Phillip Hayes on stage in productions elsewhere, I know that whatever they are involved with will carry a depth of quality that these performers bring with them.

As an actress some of my most challenging and rewarding roles have been with this company and they have been life-changing! I believe that Mildred's Umbrella has touched the lives of many including other artists. I remember watching from the audience just waiting for the chance to audition for them and I was thrilled when that day finally arrived!
