Community Reviews

Rating: 5 stars

Last night I watched, along with other parents, a delightful recital by children who had worked very hard all year to prepare for this evening. These children, along with countless others, have received the opportunity to learn an instrument, receive lessons, and participate in a first rate orchestra program whether or not their incredibly supportive families were able to cover the cost. The music the children are exposed to is incredible, and the character that is built in being from being a part of this community is priceless. I am forever grateful to what Midwest Young Artists gives to each young musician, their families, and the community as a whole! My son literally "grew up" under Dr. Dennis' baton, and I'm grateful for his musicianship, but even more grateful for the young man he has become.

Our three children participated in numerous MYA programs and our youngest is still there. This is her 10th year so you can definitely believe it's a home for her! She has mostly been in orchestra and chorus but has had a chance to try jazz and wind symphony. It has always been challenging, fun, and engaging. It is a hugely important part of everyone's life.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Need more small rehearsal rooms.

Our 3 children attended this program from very humble beginnings, including a rented rehearsal space. Our 2 boys traveled to foreign lands and learned so much more than music! We continue to enjoy the varied programs offered, the wonderful concerts and the casual nights at the fort. The kids who attend this program are talented and committed to excellence, not a bad start in life!!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The structure and opportunities given to my children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to provide their own performing venue instead of having to rent space.
