Domestic pigeons and doves are gentle, charming, quiet, affectionate pets. They are also among the most misunderstood and maligned. Fortunately for them, Elizabeth Young saw their beauty and their vulnerability, and set about forming MICKACOO, a bird rescue group dedicated to saving and rehoming these deserving birds. Anyone who meets her recognizes her passion and her integrity - and indeed many hundreds of Fantail Pigeons, Homing Pigeons, all white KIng Pigeons, and ring neck doves owe tier lives to Mickacoo and its hardy band of dedicated volunteers. They are well worth supporting.

In the summer of 2011, Elizabeth and her amazing birds were utilized in our SF SPCA Summer Camp Programs. We fostered between 5-6 birds over the course of the summer in our classroom aviary and Elizabeth visited frequently to check on the birds, educate our campers about king pigeons and accept donations that the kids had raised for Mickacoo. The experience was fantastic and by the end of the summer the king pigeons found themselves with nearly 600 young new advocates. I would recommend Mickacoo and its founders to anyone who was interested in helping these amazing birds.
