I served on MARR's Board for several years and am still a supporter of this fine Organization. I have personal knowledge of people MARR has SAVED (and I mean the term SVED literally. MARR needs public support to fulfill its mission and help people who can't afford to pay for the life saving services provided by MARR.

After years of alcohol and drug abuse, my daughter entered MARR. I was hopeful but not convinced that this program would help her finally end her battle with these addictions. She successfully completed the program and would not have the life she leads today without the support and services of MARR. But unexpectedly along with the journey that my daughter made, because of MARR's dedication to serving the family also, I was able to take my own life back and have recently enrolled in college, found a wonderful church home that has been a source of great fulfillment and fellowship and have become very active again. I have never been happier and I thank MARR and their wonderful staff and support for showing both my daughter and myself how to live a wonderful clean and sober life.

MARR has become a complete blessing in my life as I get to see first hand the mircles they help happen. The culture of love and caring in helping people turn their lives around in recovery is unique. I am proud to be a board member as I get to meet people often who have benefited from treatment for addiction.

I do not have an addiction problem, although at one time I was addicted to cigarettes, so I understand a little about the problem. I volunteered at. the request of a couple of friends and have found the staff at MARR to be more dedicated to their mission than many "for profit" companies. They are truly working for the benefit of their fellow man - and I am proud to be associated with them.

Finally, I have seen wonderous recoveries of people who have been participants in MARR's programs.

A few years ago I returned from living and working overseas and wanted to identify a worthy non-profit organization I could help as a volunteer. Through friends I found MARR and learned about their good work bringing lasting recovery to alcohol and drug addicted individuals. I was fortunate not to need the services of MARR, but I was happy when asked to serve on its board. That was three years ago and I am so proud to be associated with their vital service to the Atlanta community and to the surrounding area. What makes MARR so special is the heart of its staff and their "everyday" commitment to helping those in need. As a board member I hope to support its efforts to extend their helping hands to as many as possible.

I am a recovering alcoholic. During my years of recovery I have had the opportunity to witness treatment centers of all types and sizes. I also get to meet those who have gone through the various programs. I got involved with MARR long after I found sobriety. I got involved because their program works! The people I have met and worked with are dedicated professionals who understand the condition of addiction and are genuinely committed to the patients they serve.

While the results of their efforts stand on their own merits they don't tell the whole story. The whole story is one of saved lives, reclaimed families, and dedicated people who believe in what they do.

Simply put, MARR make a huge difference in the lives they touch. I know because I have seen it and have felt it.
