MARR is the program that allowed my brother to save his life and, by doing so, it renewed our family. It gave him a community of men who would challenge his excuses and remind him of his value. MARR took my brother back to his core values, and reminded him that God was willing and able to bless his life. My family is whole, and I am a Face and Voice of Recovery because of the choices my brother made, at 30+, as a client of MARR.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through my brother enrollment in the program

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them the resources they need to start a program for teenage boys. There is a real need for a program like MARR for 16 - 18 year olds.

As part of a local recovery group, I know several people personally who went through MARR. I have heard their testimony of how MARR helped them when they had nowhere else to go. MARR provides invaluable help to people who have lost all hope and do not know where to turn. I think they make the difference between life and death. Further, they provide hope where once there was none. They set the needy back on the path to physical and spiritual health. I know those who are now healthy, happy productive citizens once again. It is truly amazing. This is an awesome group that needs all the support they can get.

MARR professional staff is populated with a lot of people who have had their own first-hand experience with addiction. Dealing with them you have the feeling that they truly understand the problems of their clients and provide guidance that is based on more than just their professional training. This is a first class group of people helping others.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Dealing with donors. It is amazing how many of the donors are former clients who say their lives have been saved by MARR's work.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Work to extend its reach so more people could benefit

I have a family member that successfully completed the treatment program offered by MARR 5 or 6 years ago. MARR not only treated the current addiction challenges but also provided the assistance needed to make long-term life changes. I am sure I speak for my entire family when I say MARR and the exceptional people involved with MARR offer more than "treatment". They have a way of making everyone they work with feel comfortable and confident. I would recommend MARR to anyone facing the tough challenge of addiction.

I continue to see the great impact of what MARR has done, and continues to do, through Anna. She applies the principles of recovery and MARR's teachings in her daily life, and she is also diligent in helping others do the same, through her sponsorship. MARR's dedication and care are crucial components in the health, recovery, and well-being of its patients and their family and friends. I commend MARR for the phenomenal work they do. They are a true blessing!

As the mother of 4 young adults, with 3 in recovery, I cannot say enough about the success of the programs at MARR. The Womens' center along with the professional advocacy program really got my daughter back on track. She has six years of sobriety. My son spent nearly eight months with the Mens' center at MARR, working his way through the initial 90 days, then half house, then outpatient/work but still in MARR apartments.
There is no doubt in my mind that MARR saved his life.
Both of these "MARR Graduates" are still in close contact with their counselors and friends from MARR. It will always be a source of comfort to them. The daughter that received treatment at another facility has no such loyalty to that instituion nor does she keep in touch with anyone that she became sober with. In fact, she has frequent contact with the MARR staff who came to know her well while her sister and brother were in treatment.
MARR treats patients and their families like part of the whole organization. Families are urged to participate. All questions are referred to the most capable counselor in that field.
I have and will continue to refer suffering families to MARR.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The treatment of a son and a daughter.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Locate one in every major city.

I was a volunteer at MARR when I lived in the Metro Atlanta area. My daughter was a client there, completing the 90 day inpatient program in 2001. She was there for alcohol abuse. I attended the support group programs on Tuesday night for 3 years. I don't know what we would have done without MARR. 6 years after my daughter completed her program, my husband (who was an alcoholic) FINALLY quit drinking. Unfortunately it was too late for him, healthwise. He died 7 months later. BUT, those 7 months were wonderful. I never would have had the courage or the knowledge to do what was necessary during that time, had it not been for what I learned at MARR. The service MARR provides is exceptional. The staff is professional and yet very caring. I am an ongoing financial supporter. My daughter just passed her 10 year Sobriety Birthday in January. THAT is a gift that MARR made possible. They provide scholarships for people who cannot afford the program. My daughter was given $1000 off the cost of hers. We have recommended MARR to numerous people over the years. It is NOT a "spa" or a "country club", and it is HARD WORK, but if someone really wants to quit whatever their addiction is, MARR will give them all the tools they need to succeed. It is a wonderful organization, deserving of all the recognition they can get. I am deeply grateful for their help in our time of need.

I am not the expert on addition, MARR is. I will leave their program up to them. It works just fine.
