As the mother of 4 young adults, with 3 in recovery, I cannot say enough about the success of the programs at MARR. The Womens' center along with the professional advocacy program really got my daughter back on track. She has six years of sobriety. My son spent nearly eight months with the Mens' center at MARR, working his way through the initial 90 days, then half house, then outpatient/work but still in MARR apartments.
There is no doubt in my mind that MARR saved his life.
Both of these "MARR Graduates" are still in close contact with their counselors and friends from MARR. It will always be a source of comfort to them. The daughter that received treatment at another facility has no such loyalty to that instituion nor does she keep in touch with anyone that she became sober with. In fact, she has frequent contact with the MARR staff who came to know her well while her sister and brother were in treatment.
MARR treats patients and their families like part of the whole organization. Families are urged to participate. All questions are referred to the most capable counselor in that field.
I have and will continue to refer suffering families to MARR.

With multiple family members struggling with addiction related problems for 15+ years, we have had experience with many treatment programs. MARR was by far the best. The MARR approach brings results that are very different and better than others we have been exposed to. Thank you, MARR...keep up the great work with the much needed care you offer.

Nine years ago I came into Marr South trying to find a desire to stay sober. The staff at Marr helped me get honest with myself in understanding the disease concept and my role in it. One day at a time I relived my spiritual connection and began to learn how to live a life long journey in sobriety.

Today, I try to work the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anominous in all my affairs and be off help to others trying to find recovery.

Life couldn't be better, but it still gets better evry day.

Thanks Marr

Steve L.

When I came to MARR I was physically, mentally, & spiritually bankrupt. I truly hated the man I had become but I did not know or understand that I had the disease of chemical dependency. In the context of MARR's program I came to know compassion, understanding, & love along with accountability & discipline. This experience put me on the path of recovery. Yesterday I celebrated 5 years of being "clean" & sober, a truly miraculous occasion. Without MARR I would have died. Worse yet, I was at the point I wanted to die. I now refer others to MARR so that they might have the same blessed opportunity I was given.

As a woman living in a life of recovery my spiritual journey into deliverance of my addiction, I was lead to give back to other women that may not have gotten the necessary tools to live a life of recovery. I was lead to an AWESOME program by the name of Metro Atlanta Recovery Residence. The volunteer position I currently perform weekly for the past three (3) years has honestly strengthend my recovery in so many ways. The community atmosphere that MARR has for their recovery programs gives what independent recovery does not, the ability to learn to transition back into life relationships with hands on experience. I have witnessed women become real with themselves, honest, giving and understanding women. I feel that without this experience relapse is an abosolute. Thank God that i was lead to become a volunteer with MARR, and I thank god everyday for a recovery program of this magnitude.

Forever Grateful,
Ingrid J.

ways that have given me additional knowledge of addiction in women and the destruction that can be repaired. The healing that I have seen with my own heart and eyes is amazingly beautiful. And knowing there is a place where giving up is not an option.

I would do all I could to make MARR available to ALL women in need of learning how to change their thinking into productive behavior so that they too can live life healthy with tools that do work.

I am a physician with a long history of substance abuse. I had varying periods of sobriety but always ended up relapsing. I had numerous setbacks of a financial nature before my last relapse and was but a few steps away from losing licensure and ultimately employability.

I was truly
blessed to have been referred to MARR where the counsellors, along with the design of the program, helped me to break through what was left of my denial and put me on the right path.

I am 6 yrs 3 months sober now, happier than ever, thinking and acting like a sane person and so very grateful that I have been taught how to live life on life's terms.

I recommend MARR to my patients who are substance addicted and continue to support their programs with my donations of money, and whenever I can get back to Atlanta, my time.

MARR is a special place. They saved my life 8 years ago. I had battled addiction for many years before arriving at MARR including other treatment programs. Their philosophy of long-term residential treatment with recovery happening between clients learning to live together and incorporation of spiritual healing and the 12 step recovery program is unique and very effective. The staff are top notch, selfless, and dedicated.

Saved my life eight years ago. I was completely broken physcially, spiritually, emotially. I had destroyed all my relationships and was about to lose my family. Financially, I had leave my career, sell our house, and was in debt. Today, I have never been in a better position in terms of my personal relationships, career, family, etc.

Continue to grow responsibly to help as many people possible.

I was a volunteer at MARR when I lived in the Metro Atlanta area. My daughter was a client there, completing the 90 day inpatient program in 2001. She was there for alcohol abuse. I attended the support group programs on Tuesday night for 3 years. I don't know what we would have done without MARR. 6 years after my daughter completed her program, my husband (who was an alcoholic) FINALLY quit drinking. Unfortunately it was too late for him, healthwise. He died 7 months later. BUT, those 7 months were wonderful. I never would have had the courage or the knowledge to do what was necessary during that time, had it not been for what I learned at MARR. The service MARR provides is exceptional. The staff is professional and yet very caring. I am an ongoing financial supporter. My daughter just passed her 10 year Sobriety Birthday in January. THAT is a gift that MARR made possible. They provide scholarships for people who cannot afford the program. My daughter was given $1000 off the cost of hers. We have recommended MARR to numerous people over the years. It is NOT a "spa" or a "country club", and it is HARD WORK, but if someone really wants to quit whatever their addiction is, MARR will give them all the tools they need to succeed. It is a wonderful organization, deserving of all the recognition they can get. I am deeply grateful for their help in our time of need.

I am not the expert on addition, MARR is. I will leave their program up to them. It works just fine.

I have known about MARR for almost 2 decades now. I was first introduced by one of my friends that has now been sober for 22 years and is a very successful husband and father. While, thankfully, I have had no one in my immediate family require their assistance, I know many people who had gotten their lives back from their exceptional program administered by a concerned and loving staff. I look for small ways that I can give to this organization that means so much to my community!
