MERCY MEDICAL AIRLIFT

This is a comment from the wife of a National Guard master sergeant who has flown with Air Compassion for Veterans for six years. ACV is a division of Mercy Medical Airlift. She said, "I called Air Compassion for Veterans and spoke to the most gracious, wonderful and polite person on the phone. Her name was Robin. I started to cry when I was speaking to her. She cared, which was certainly God sent. She gave us hope once again...I knew that God answered our prayers."
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
speaking with patients and other volunteers about their experiences with Mercy Medical Airlift. It's truly inspiring and uplifting to hear the impact this organization has made on the lives of others. MMA saves lives and gives hope to those that sometimes have little left. On top of that those that donate their sevices (i.e. pilots with Angel Flight, drivers for Angel Bus, and on) are truly happy to do so.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
boost its presence by all means. There are thousands of people MMA's services could benefit, but many of those people are unaware of MMA and its sub-organizations like Angel Flight and Angel Bus.

One of our patients writes: “When I have little hope in little else, you all give me a reason to hang on and for that you have no idea how much this means to me. The comfort of your voices and your sympathy goes a long way.”

Here is a comment from the parents of a girl suffering from a rare form of cancer. “Mercy Medical Airlift was very gracious and courteous to us…and got her a round trip flight to Houston for her second of third carcinoid cancer therapy treatments. It’s a hard situation to deal with and the Mercy Medical Airlift staff made it much easier for our daughter and us.”

On Sep. 11, 2001 I was diagnosed with Leukemia. Because of the tragedy in NYC and at the pentagon, I was unable to receive treatment in either cities primary cancer facilities. They were hoping/expecting to be treating many thousands. As a result, I found care at MD Anderson in Houston, but the airlines were not flying. I ended up driving. Later, I learned about Angel Flight (a member of the Mercy Medical Airlift team of causes) and that they could have gotten me to Houston. I also learned about their efforts to help wounded warriors through the Air Compassion for Veterans and Angel Bus. MMA also is a primary provider of emergency air transportation after natural disasters like Katrina. In fact, MMA flew over 10,000 rescue sorties after Katrina - second only to the military. I joined the board as a result of what I learned. I can't begin to explain the feeling to see the smile on an 11 year old girls face as she gets off a general aviation plane at her Shriner's Hospital. MMA is an organization using 98% of funds for people in need.
