MMA sets a standard of excellence for serving individuals that have no other way to receive their prescribed medical treatment but through transportation provided by MMA.
It has been my pleasure to meet with organizations and clinic representatives that refer their patients to MMA's Angel Bus. Often I am told there was no other way for the patient to recieve specialized care except through transportation provided by MMA.
As a retired military member, I am especially proud of Air Compassion for Veterans and Air Compassion America. These MMA entities serve our wounded warriors from Iraq and Afganistan as well as veterans of previous wars and service.
If there is a need for transportation for medical needs, MMA is there for the patient and family.

I have been honored to be affiliated with this organization for a long time.
Here is a touching letter from a young mother who takes recurrent Angel Flights. “I am writing this from the hospital where I am receiving my fourth treatment,” she writes. “This trial is of two years’ duration. It is a long time, but if it gives me more time with Caroline, 9, and Drew, 7, I guess it’ll be worth it. Your sacrifice is making it possible for me to get treatment that is not available to me back home.”

I have been a Board Member for Mercy Medical Airlift since its inception and have been so very pleased to hear, see and read so many of the letters of grateful patients and families served. The volunteer pilots whose planes, time and fuel are allat their own expense do so as a wonderful service to all our patients and ther families.
I never gave a thought that I might one day be the beneficiary of these services until my wife needed medical transport to Cleveland for her open heart sugery. When we learned that she was eligible for the flight to the Cleveland Clinic we were very relieved and grateful for the bed to bed transfer on this very gentle compassionate ride in the specially equipped Bananza.

A note from one of our cancer patients says it all: “While car travel is fine for examinations and testing, a post-surgical patient feels every bump in the road. The service that Angel Flight provides is an honorable and necessary mode of transportation…I am very blessed to know you are there.”

I would not make any changes to this outstanding organization.
I heard of Medical Airlift 2 weeks ago from a ‘co-resident’ of the Hope Lodge, an American Cancer Center. They too travel several states to receive the medical care needed to live. I kept questioning them, ‘are you sure they help with the air flights so far away?’ What an emotional relief to find you!! Accepting your diagnosis can be difficult, preparing to fight the battle can be challenging, but the financial devastation can be overwhelming. I am at the beginning of a long journey—the heart transplant is behind me, the stem cell transplant is before me, but a journey I can do. What a ray of sunshine, professionalism, speediness and encouragement you provided for us Thank you, thank you from the bottom of our heart. ~Anne

As a Board Member and volunteer for Mercy Medical Airlift, I am personally aware of many "stories" involving individuals often desperately needing medical/financial/transportation assistance. Circumstances range from real time emergencies to otherwise impossible access to family caregivers as well as to critical treatment facilities. Among those being serviced include wounded veterans and their relatives, Alzheimer's patients, children with specialized needs and persons with rare diseases. This organization represents the gold standard with respect to effectiveness, efficiency and compassion. It is a privilege to contribute to MMA.

Mercy Medical Airlift has been crucial to my husband's cancer treatment had it not been for the help and support I don't believe he would be able to travel across the country for treatment which is crucial as the treatment he is receiving is only being offered at this facility! We are extremely thankful and very grateful for this service it is truly a blessing and do not know what his health status will be had it not been for the services received. Cathy Kelly is very compasionate and very helpful.

Four months after I married the love of my life, my husband, Robert suffered from an aortic dissection (at the age of 35).
Our world would forever be changed.
Robert went through several operations at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY to save his life from the initial event; as well as, further complications.
By late summer that year - he was still in the hospital with unresolved issues, which could only be solved by more surgery.
With the blessings and encouragement from our medical "family" - we sought out the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for treatment options.
But how where we to get there, much less get back?
I was allowed to ride up in the ambulance with Robert, but did not know how long we would be at the Clinic. After three weeks in Cleveland I needed to get home to my 5 year old daughter (who was staying with family).
A good friend, Debra Oates (her husband a former pilot), suggested I call Angel Flights.

By the grace of God and the humanity of the volunteer pilots of this organization, I was given "wings" to fly back and forth between Cleveland and Kentucky at no cost. Lord knows we could not afford any other options and only had one vehicle which would not have withstood the multiple trips, much less the cost of gas.

I cannot think of any changes or concerns about this organization. In fact, I have tried to spread the word about Angel Flights for others we've met in our journey.

Mercy Medical has provided flights several times for my husband and I to go to another state for treatment of his cancer.
Due to our low income status, this help has alleviated a big financial burden for us.
Cathy Kelly was indeed a very helpful and proficient in making all the travel arrangements for us. It was done in a quick efficient manner.
Many thanks to Mercy Medical airlift and all staff who assist in making these arrangements.

Mercy Medical Airlift followed through with assistance when no other organization was able to help. I appreciated their professionalism and willness to go the extra mile, even with little notice. Our patient will now receive the necessary medical follow-up vital to her recovery.
