Programs: In our after school and summer programs, we focus not only on complementing what the children learn in school through homework help and supplementary activities, but also focus on nurturing children through a curriculum that teaches Black history and culture, and positive life skills such as meditation and conflict resolution. The programs also include various theme-based trips and experiences to expand the world-view of the children and inspire them to develop their interests, dreams and life goals. Our summer camp programs feature: daily affirmations, creative African story-telling, minority history, agricultural lessons, creative dance movements, academic readiness activities, weekly swimming, and community trips to places such as the Smithsonian and Ocean City. Our Children's Gallery of Black History takes place as a week-long annual event, as well as a year-round "mobile" initiative, where children engage in interactive, hands-on learning activities that connect with history of Great People. The Gallery builds on the Great Persons Series, and offers a nontraditional learning experience designed to "bring history to life" for children.
