I participated in my first MSFC event in 1992 as a second year medical student. I am proud of everthing MSFC has accomplished in the last 18 years. As a medical school faculty member I am constantly impressed by the students involved in MSCF today.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

involvement by students in curriculum development.

Medical Students for Choice is an amazing organization, the national office provides so much support to our local chapter. I have learned so much from MSFC and plan to be an active member throughout medical school, and would encourage others to become involved.

Medical Students for Choice is an amazing organization that helps advocate for education about full spectrum womens reproductive services, including contraception and abortion services for ALL physicians regardless of whether they are OB/GYNS, family doctors, surgeons, specialists or abortion providers. They realize the widespread utilization of they servivces by women and recognize the need of all physicians to be able to discuss they options with their patients. They provide help to establish medical school curriculum adressing these issues and help individuals seeking more training to get access.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

developing curriculum at my school, we created modules on sexual health interviewing, pregnancy and options counseling, healthy pregnacy habits. We organized papaya workshops to teach first and second year students the MVA procedure.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them more money - there are over 140 medical schools in this country, each training between 100-300 students a year. Everyone of them should be able to talk to their patients about womens reproductive health!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting other medical students who are dedicated to this cause!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing - truly dedicated to the cause - many times at the cost of their own personal safety and security.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world of healthcare for women.

Ways to make it better...

I could share this with every one of my classmates. It's easy to teach the people who want to be taught, but every doctor should be able to talk to their patients about these issues, just as they can with any other procedures or medications.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the politics get in the way of the medicine. It is a challenge with so much opposition.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this organization trusts and respects women. Its main goal is to provide women with fair and accurate information and allow them to make their own decisions.

Medical Students for Choice is an amazing organization, without them, students would not have the multitude of opportunities MSFC provides. I just finished my MSFC externship, and it was an amazing experience. Through this experience, I learned about medical problems and procedures that I would not have otherwise learned until my residency. Thanks Medical Students for Choice!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization over the summer, during my Reproductive Health Externship and throughout the school year at the various workshops MSFC organizes.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Protect womens' Choice and assure that every woman can continue to exercise her right to protect her body, her best interests, and the interests of her family.

Medical Students for Choice is an amazing organization aimed at advocating to make all options available for women who find themselves pregnant. Most pregnancy testing centers do not offer women the option of having an abortion, leaving women with unwanted pregnancies terrified for their future and without any choice. MS4C is aimed at teaching future physicians the importance of options and choices when advocating for their patients. They are also removing the social stigma of abortion by providing sound research about how common the procedure is in the U.S. and safe it can be when it is legal and done by professionals.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization, when I see that many of the current Ob/Gyn's and Family Medicine physicians who provide abortions were part of the Medical Students For Choice organization when they were in medical school.

MSFC is an integral part of spreading information regarding reproductive health to medical students. For a variety of reasons, the full gamut of reproductive options is not given enough room in the standard medical school curriculum. MSFC allows some of these shortcomings to be addressed, at least for interested students.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

getting medical students interested in reproductive health.

MSFC is an incredibly supportive, involved, and innovative organization that I am proud to call myself a member of. This organization seeks to develop well-informed and proactive health care professionals that are working towards a better future. I hope that this organization may continue to have support for many years to come.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing local health care providers come and give informative talks about contraception and other aspects of responsible family planning.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

change nothing!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Local talks made by health care providers supporting this organization through discussion of responsible family planning.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly responsible and motivated!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help our society's rising issue of unplanned pregnancies and the resultant increase in children without adequate family support.

Ways to make it better...

they changed nothing!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

gaining adequate funding and getting the word out about our goals.

One thing I'd also say is that...

MSFC is a valuable organization that proudly supports 'choice'- not only for women- but for all of humanity.

MS4C has been an amazing organization that has encouraged to follow my values in my career. I'm currently a 3rd year medical student at the University of Saskatchewan and sometimes school can be overwhelming and debilitating. MS4C, with their conferences, enlightening newsletters, and generous funding, has enabled to me to remember why I went into medicine in the first place. It is an also an amazing organization for standing up for what it believes in and having the guts to take on naysayers.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

getting generous funding for conferences.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not want to change a lot. Because it is a North American organization, having satellites in both United States and Canada, I may suggest more Canadian content for myself and other Canadians.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting new people that share the same core values as me.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. They were also passionate about MS4C's cause.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach out and influence the lives of women worldwide. There would be contraception and education available in all countries, leading to wanted pregnancies and stable families.

Ways to make it better...

they could offer small stipends for individuals interested in related aspects to sexual health. For their scholarship, I was unable to secure 2 weeks of termination exposure; however, I was spending 3 weeks in sexual health clinics.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

society antagonism or apathy. There are individuals and organizations that are inherently against termination access and sexual education. This limits popular and political support to the organization.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I'm glad I had the opportunity to get involved with this group. I've learned so much and have solidified the values and beliefs I have, particularly in my approach to medicine.
